My tax return arrived today (Valentine V1)

Well I need to hardwire my tax return, and I want to wire it to the auto dimming mirror, but mine has home link and compass as well so it's got 3 wires.

Just need to know which ones are okay to tap into. There's 2 black and 1 black/white wire. I read the auto dimming post and it mentions ground wire having "ridges" but none of mine have that so I can't really tell which one is safe 12v to tap. That particular post didn't have home link just auto dimming so only 2 wires.

Thanks.

I looked up the Mazda Homelink Mirror install instructions...

Black/White is 12V switched
Black is 12V constant
The other Black is the ground

So Black/White should be the wire to tap into. Probe it with a multimeter if you have doubts.

Best investment you ever made. Don't know how many times my v1 has saved me

Nice investment. I have the other one Escort MAX 360. Works amazingly.

That's a lot more disassembling which I'm too lazy for haha, though it does seem like a good idea.

I can definitely see it, because I kind of made it save me the first day...on purpose. This thing picks up a lot of false positives though, and where I work there's even more false positives because airport. It did pick up the cop around a bend in the middle of the night though, and it picked him up from faaaar away. So good job to V1.

You guys know how to disable XBAND alerts completely?

MS3Shadow 03-06-2016 08:13 AM

There should be a manual to show you how to turn it off the X band.

Would be nice if it can filter out those false positives.

I believe it's default off in one of the modes you can switch to by pressing the center button. Pretty sure I remember doing this on mine when I first got it because of all the false positives I was getting, but check the manual for more info. I think it's available online if you don't have the one that came with your detector...
