Default NEED ADVICE

OK, so last year i was going to buy a bike and instead i bought the speed 3. Well i love the speed 3 and do not want to sell it, but i went to buy a bike today, every one i no flipped the fuck out because i still owe on this car. I said yea so what if i can make it work oh well. Then i realized well if i do buy a bike i have to sell the car and pay something off, like 10 grand limit.

SO, do i sell the car and buy a step down vehicle and bike or keep car and do BT later in the year????

I have always had a need for speed, sorry for the bad cliche. A bike would definitely give us that speed that most of us want and crave. But I know to many people who have had near death experience on one and alot of horror stories of worse things happening. Ive always known if I bought one I'd be dead for sure. Id much rather have some speed with steel surrounding me instead.

I may get flamed for my above post by someone, but that is just how I personally feel about bikes. Unless were talking about some sweet BMX or Mongoose bikes.

Your 20 and im 24 so im going to be able to relate with u.
There will never be a point in life where u get more pussy then when u have a bike. Litteraly that shyt will fall on your lap by the dozens. I know this from experience. I also kno wat its like to see your friend die in front of you because the guy in the corolla "didnt see him". If u do chose to go the bike route just be carefull out there n try to always ride in a group. Like you said yourself your still young, you got a nice car that done right, can run a 600cbr. Stay with that n later on get the bike.

@rfinkle2, from the post above are you about ready lolol.

@Sid3wayS , yea thanks man. I knew i need to wait but BT and the used bike where tip for tap. The turbo kit, Inlet, Exhaust mani would add up to a decent used bike. But insurance kills a 20 yr with a speed record.

1k Pshhhh I wish.... Try $1600. And thats actually real good. My boy with an evo x same age pays more for insurance then he does the loan. Insurance is redonkulous in s.fla. shitty ass fucking drivers everywhere.

Edit: oh n Ive only gotn 3 speeding tickets so I definetly dont have a bad record.

Go big turbo on the car! I got my bike when I was 23. Just wait a little longer and you will be good. You still have plenty of time to get the bike and you will probably be in a better financial situation.

Especially since I'm only paying $520ish for insurance for 2 vehicles, bike (only cost $7/month) and renters insurance. pays to be 25 and no speeding tickets.

I think its safe to say that many of us like the idea of owning a motorcycle but then logic takes over and we end up with "its just not safe." You aren't the only one who has had this dilemma. Getting injured/killed on a motorcycle is a dumb way to leave this world

Talk about feeling old... when I was 20 my insurance was $2400 every six months and I was told by that same insurance company that I fell into the top 1% of WORST drivers at the time, then they dropped me. 6 accidents by the time I was 21, that is why I never bought a bike. I wouldn't have made it to 30!

Having had only a motorcycle as my mode of transportation for the last 2 years I recommend sticking with the car for now.

Sure the insurance may be cheaper (Hell what I pay for 1 month on my speed3 is what I pay for a year on the bike), filling up the bike may be cheaper to a point...but 4 wheels makes more sense if that is going to be your only means of transportation. Not being able to carry much of anything will get old pretty fast.

My 2 cents

...there's plenty of time to get a bike

But it doesn't matter how bad of a driver you are.
You could be the best driver in the world and you'll still be vulnerable on a bike.
Instead, be the best driver in the world in an MS3. Because racecar.

Like others have said, plenty of time for a bike. But wait until you can actually afford one (as well as good gear with it) and have a good place to store it for use once in awhile.

I loved my f4i I had for a year, but I sold it. I never had any issues, but I just saw too many people I was riding with crash or get hit by cars so its not worth it to me anymore even though the speed of a bike is so great.

Remember, every time you hop on the bike to go out, you may never return.
Proshop likes this.

I have both the 6 and a 1200 crotch rocket and let me tell you, there is nothing like getting on that bike and hammering it. a car just can't accelerate like a bike. at least not without major upgrades. as for the safety part of it, you can only control what you do and if you aren't stupid on your bike then you can't freak yourself out over what other people might do. just be careful and enjoy it. but definitely wait until you can have both

Go to Lendingclub.com and get a personal loan (only if the interest rate is decent of course), from there check ebay/craigslist and hold out for a good deal. I have bought many bikes this way (the best deals are on the ones that people dropped and got scared to ride again).
Then when you get insurance you can get the lowest possible needed on the bike to be legal. I do agree about the pussy comment above! Oh the crazy stories I could tell and some pictures to prove it....but that is for another thread.
When picking out a bike, find something that will blow you away every time you look at it or ride it, because if you spend a lot of time in the saddle...it isn't always sunshine and pussy. lol

Fixed. I agree with you, I was just getting all my accidents out of the way early in life. Now I pay $700/ 6mo for house & 2 cars.

Dude, how do you guys even accept paying $1600 for insurance? I was going to get a 2008 Evo GSR and insurance on that was only $115 a month / $690 for 6 months. My MS3 I pay $105 a month, and I was paying $84 a month on my 2011 Gen Coupe! ....Dear god, I couldn't even imagine.

P.S. I just turned 24!

All depends on where you live brother. York, Pa sounds small. I live on the skirts of one of the biggest citys on the east coast. Lots of bad drivers, insurance claims, natural disasters and fraud all play a role in priceing.

I recently sold a '06 CBR600RR and my '06 Ford Escape and used the money to buy my speed. I don't regret the decision one bit.

I have a bike, but I'm probably going to sell it. It's pretty much because of where I live. Either it's winter or the weather sucks, lol.

I say upgrade the Speed!

That was why I bought my mazda. Hydrolocked the engine in my Focus ( thanks SC flooding ) and only had my Harley for my ride. It was great, and I do miss riding, but it was not practical to only have the bike, couldnt carry anything, rain etc.

As far as safety, every person I know that has ridden has been down. Literally, no exageration. It didn't stop me from riding, but just know that going in, as they say, there are two types of riders, ones that have been done, and ones that will go. If you do go the bike, just ride like every person on the road is trying to kill you, because half of the idiots don't see you and they will swerve right into you.

That being said, motorcycles are real fun, but on the way home from the dealer, driving over the Ravanel bridge turbo kicking in, I was not sorry at all to sell the bike and get the car.
The turbo still makes me smile.

Not sure why so much hate on bikes being dangerous. A lot of the people you hear about going down are doing lots of stupid stuff like not getting the proper training, getting bikes too powerful for their abilities, etc. I've been riding for 9 years (I'm 26) and I'm still alive, LOL. There's really nothing like it. Wearing the proper gear helps on the safety aspect also. I always wear an Aerostich riding suit (or mesh jacket in the summer), riding boots and a full face helmet. Plus you can get a bike with ABS like my 04 Honda VFR800, which I think is a really nice thing to have. Maybe look into getting an SV650, they are decently cheap, available with ABS and a whole lot of fun; probably a decent beginner bike and plenty fast enough for when you get better.

IMO, you don't want to use an MBC, you want to use a 3 port.

cld12pk2go is making good, controllable power with the gtx3071 and grimmspeed.
