Introduction (new owner)

Sorry just read the rules and didn't mean to post up a noob thread.
My name is Benny and I live down in ghetto dirty ass Laredo Texas. I work down in the border with customs. I've been wanting a mazdaspeed 3 for years and finally bought one brand new. Currently I haven't done any mods to it what so ever. Figured I could come to the forums and get some help before I blow up my engine. Also this is my first turbocharged car but I'm willing to learn as much as possible.

Not this shit again.

...... Not sure if serious or not??? Any aftermarket part can void your warranty. If the dealer even thinks you modded the car and took off the parts for warranty work they can deny you. Don't mod the car if the warranty is that precious to you. Good day sir!

Seeing as this thread is worthless, I'm gonna go off topic. I have no idea if you are being serious with your post (probably not). But anyways...

You cant "void" a warranty. All the dealer can do is deny your claim.

Regardless, dealerships do not want to do that anyways. They WANT to cover you under warranty. If they don't they then have to compete for your business with every other shop in town. The reason they would deny you is because they are worried that they might suffer a chargeback if mazda thinks they are handing out free parts and labor (which sucks).

Do they make more money if you pay out of pocket? Sure. But the risk of losing out on guaranteed buisness is not worth the small reward.

If this is the case then there wouldn't be so many people asking for, "Mod friendly" dealers. I know plenty of people who have been turned away at dealers for mods. Warranty work only pays them for the time it is suppose to take to perform the task. I think they also pay a different amount for labor to the dealer for the work, I dont know. You won't, "void" the warranty but can certainly be shut down for coming in with mods. Since we are being technical, they technically can't deny you warranty to work for mods, unless the mods are the direct cause of the problem you are having.

Plus I have never heard of ANYONE who's said the dealership loves doing warranty work on modded cars.

They don't "Love" it for the reason I mentioned (chargebacks). But they do not want to open up your business to the rest of the market. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

People ask for "mod friendly dealers" because they are paranoid. Voltron got a brand new tranny, fully covered by Mazda. We all know that he was far from stock when he made that claim.

It all depends on the dealer.

Some dealers are assholes and will deny your claim if you have any mods, regardless of whether or not the mods led to the damage. You then have to put in the effort to argue to get warranted work done. Mod friendly dealers are just much easier to work with.

And not only do they want your shop business, but you have to assume that people with lots of mods are breaking things faster than stock and will need more shop work than the average speed driver. And if they play it right, they can get people to have the tougher mods done at the dealer for more profit. So dealers should be catering to the mod crowd.

There is a PM you should have gotten when you first signed up which includes a good base of knowledge to get you going.
