Need MOAR POWER!!!!!!!!

So today I got into a little run with a friend of mine in his 2011 MINI Cooper S. He has an Alta intake, Alta hot side and cold side boost tubes, and a Forge blow off valve, I know cause I helped install them all. Either way I am now running a Stage 2 OTS map and he held with me pretty damn good until 4th gear then I started pulling away. Either way I was hoping to pull on him a lot harder. I have a CP-E Stage 2 Flex RMM coming in this week. After that it is either a DP or Intercooler. Once I get fully bolted I am going to give [MENTION @atvfreek a shout for a tune. I love my Speed3 I do, but with the mods I have already I havent noticed a big gain just yet. Hopefully it will all come together with a nice tune instead of the OTS maps.

CWP_MS3 05-09-2013 07:25 AM

Why slow? Because OTS. Hell, what you have and a 93 tune would = rape. Add e85... Savage rape.

Then downpipe? Murder. You goin to jail yo!

Dimenus 05-09-2013 07:36 AM

If you already haz racepipe you don't necessarily need a DP yet (says the guy with a DP).

The tune will make a HUUUUGE difference.

JgamB 05-09-2013 08:03 AM

Deek I've been reading about the corn, and if you can get E85 readily then I'd run 25%. You should tune a fuzz over 300 hp / 340 tq with your current mods.

The guys running 50+% E85 are the ones having gunk issues, and you can throw just about as much timing at the car with a low % mix. I don't understand the fascination with running 100% E85 other than convenience or living in an Amazon rain forest / death valley.

That should be about all the power you can reasonably put to the front tires and still get traction below 60 MPH on 225s. If you can't get corn, you should still gain 20+ HP 30+ TQ with an e-tune over the OTS maps and a lot more consistent power delivery.

Don't convince him that being a ricer is okay... :chairshot:

A tune will make all the difference. Mine isn't complete yet and it's already night and day

o.0 How does this have anything to do with being a ricer?

3'' intake has shown more gains over a full DP on the K04, which would be a better use of that extra money.

Unless you're implying he's a ricer because he almost got beat by a Mini lol.

Fully bolted aside from manifolds. Richtune is doing the tune.

deekspeed 05-09-2013 08:36 AM

how much does [MENTION @atvfreek charge for a re tune? Lets say I have him tune it now then add the intercooler and DP, then re tune.

helmetface 05-09-2013 08:51 AM

Big gains in them boost tubes

MazdaBoy2.3 05-09-2013 08:55 AM

An etune will make a huge difference.

In still working with Rob @rfinkle2;) and the car feels so much stronger already!

ms3rick 05-09-2013 08:58 AM

get an e85/91 E-tune... Then save for some tires

Dr. Speed 05-09-2013 08:59 AM

I'm still on stock DP and I'm making pretty damn good numbers for 91oct. (See sig for mods and VD numbers) It really is mostly in the tune.

Just PM atvfreek. I'm sure he'd be happy to answer your questions.

Yes, but once you bolt that DP on, your TQ will go up 20-30ftlbs and your HP will reflect some gains as well.

We actually had this issue on my car while tuning on 93. The car was making 350tq too easily, so Lex really neutered the shit out of my boost. In 40' weather my K04 was hitting 22.9 psi with jack shit for wastegate.

Working on the corn now though so I'm coming for you @CWP_MS3; :drive:

Lolz... I don't typically switch back and forth, because when I run 93 I'm always like "I could of .... if I was running e85". So now I just run E all the time.

Here are most of all the details you need :) http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...ow-perm-89747/ It's 200 for the Initial tune, then 50 for a fluff (unless major hardware change like BT etc)

The factory boost tubes have a literal muffler in them to reduce the sound. The aftermarket units are free-flowing (no muffler) and actually add some power. (all according to a buddy that has a Mini)

This is true. I am the Foreman at MINI of Fort Myers and this is the first mod I tell all my customers to do.

I giggle a little every time I read 'boost tubes".

qweedqwag 05-09-2013 02:24 PM

Justin's AKA ATVFREEK tunes are awesome, he knows what to do, he guided me as to what mods to do and so far the car is fast, I would smoke a mini. E-85 tune next.
