Need opinions on something.

Hey lads, I recently purchased from the UK a pair of number plates, put the front one on which doesn't look too bad but a couple of nights ago after a few brews devil made work of my idle hands and i fitted the rear plate under my florida tag. Wife seems to think it looks cheesy and gay. What do you think ?
My reasoning for putting on UK tags is that I'm from the UK that's about it really not trying to be like those dub and bmw boys with their German tags.

and don't feel bad. I used to slap this on the back of my car when I was at car shows. Last time, I forgot to put the real one on, made it 20 miles before the FHP asked me if my car was really from Japan. I really wanted to say it was JDM as fuck, but FHP has no humor. reinstalled plate, warned, and all good.

I did / done it for purely sentimental reasons, unlike those dubs and bimmer folk who don their German plates to symbolize that their cars are from Germany. Put another way, if I were a Native American ( not red version ) and lived in the UK then perhaps seeing my local florida plate on my car in that country would make me feel somewhat at home. I guess I'm a sensitive beast.
