Default New to the forum

Been in the background reading info for some time since I got my MS3 13 months ago but wondering aloud if I may have gotten a lemon and looking for those who know to tell my everything that has/is happening is normal or a sign of things to come.

Bought new 2013 in oct of same year. Everything fine then approximately 6 months in when car at operating temp periodically off idle there would be a horrendous audible whining from clutch area. Lived with it off and on for couple months. Didn't happen daily or even weekly for that matter and clutch seemed fine. Go to dealer and they say clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder the whole works need to be replaced. 7K miles.
And I hardly hammer in this car and it is bone stock.

Now after I've gotten clutch parts changed I have this horrendous noise from front diff when turning at low speeds. only and I mean only when the car is warm. It always had the low speed kind of noise when cold so many have spoken about but this is different.

Now with 8K miles in getting to the point of thinking this car was built on Friday at 4:50pm.

Have a few mods waiting to install but at the rate I'm going I'll just have to sell them off I think.

So do you guys think the two problems are related? Totally flukey? Should I dump this thing or what? I love the car but am seriously doubting the longevity here. Would welcome any opinions from those in the know.

Thanks, jeremy from San Jose.

Welcome, honestly you're stock and still in warranty. I know it's frustrating but make the dealer make it right. Keep taking it back until the car is fixed correctly. I will let the others chime in on what the noise could be. We have some pretty smart people around here, donate when you get a chance. I wouldn't sell your mods yet, once the car is fixed you can mod it up and enjoy it.

Thanks for your reply....it kills me to have stuff I bought just sitting in boxes as pretty much every vehicle I ever owned was modded minus the wife's jalopy but we shall see.

Sounds like you may have gotten one with something wrong. Stock these cars put up with a lot of abuse. Take it back and get it fixed correctly under warranty, and you shouldn't have issues.

My clutch is holding a conciderable amount of torque without problems....

It definitely sounds like you got a lemon. Thing is, there's no guarantee that everything went correctly during the first round of repairs. Technicians are only human and a mistake may have been made that has now stuck you with a second round of problems. I'll echo what others said...it sucks, but you must take it back to the dealer.

You gotta keep taking it back. When I bought my 07 car developed a strange suspension noise over bumps. I told the dealer that I suspect swaybar bushings but they insisted that I'm not a tech and they know better. It took six visits they've replaced the whole front end....during 6th visit they tried bushings and it worked lol.....I had terrible luck with dealers and I grew to hate service advisors...they are used to people that have no idea about cars and think that bullshit will fly with everyone.

When you bring it in take a rental and as soon as you pick up the car try to repeat the issue to see if it's still there. If it is, take it right back.

2005 Mazda 3 SP23: mods include rusty quarter panels and grinding 3rd gear. It does have a fusion motor, so I guess that's a mod too.

Guy, be glad you still have a warranty. 98% of us here don't have that either through mileage or a couple days worth of demodding.
