New Here Hey everyone! I have been looking through these forums for a while now for tidbits (<-- yes, I said tidbits) of information here and there. I'm going to be doing a brake pad and rotor replacement pretty soon as well as a manual tranny fluid change. I'm the second owner of a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 since 13,985 miles; I now have 50,600 miles on the odometer (I've driven lots in just over 2 years, haha). I went from a 2003 BMW 330i which cost me an arm and a leg to keep on the road, so I'm glad to be back in a reliable and very fun machine. My car is currently bone stock (under powertrain warranty) and I don't plan to do too much to it as I want to keep it reliable. Are there any things about the Gen 2 that I should absolutely be aware of? Looking through old threads it looked like the Gen 1's had some issues with over aggressive ECU tuning resulting in blown engines and ringlands. I know that driving style and mods without proper tunes plays into that a lot. I never do WOT in 6th gear or below ~3,000 rpm. As far as I know though, the Gen 2's might have safer stock tunes and revised pistons, PCV systems and K04 turbos. Also, anyone from Calgary, Alberta here? Duey |
