New MS3 Issue

First off I wanna say hello to everyone this is my first day and post on this forum board. I just bought my first mazda yesterday Hoooray. Its a 2010 Mazda Speed 3 and only has 27K miles on it and some one took care of it because it looks like the car just rolled off the factory floor. Well anyways I have a major concern. After driving it home from the dealer and to work in the morning and home from work I walked to the back of my car. Theres black soot allll over the back. on the bumper and all over the hatch. The Exhaust tips are also as well covered in this soot. Im new to Mazda's and new to turbo's in general. This is my first ever forced induction car. Is this ok or is there something wrong with my mazda? Ohh and to mention of course I was "playing around" a little bit reaching max boost just because its my first day with it. And I did notice while driving home from the dealer when I got into it and she was at max boost I looked in my rear view and there was smoke or soot trailing behind me not to mention i drove it maybe a total of 30 miles and its sucking fuel burned well over a 1/4 of a tank. Im just a little concerned and want a mazda Guru to school me a bit. thanks sincerely Brian.

"first day and post" Bad combo here

Oil blow-by. Regardless, you just bought the fucking thing..bring it back and tell them to fix it.....

lcspeed6 09-11-2012 04:04 PM

go back to the dealer, it should be still covered under warranty.

ok ima ring them now.....this is freaking great.

Keko 09-11-2012 04:11 PM

Was the smoke screen coming out DURING WOT or after you let off/shifted? Smoke should come out after you let off the throttle, don't worry. Stock tune is crazy rich.

Soot is something you will have to deal with. I clean mine weekly or it gets fugly. Try having a white speed:3some:

During WOT but for only putting 40 miles on it theres A good amount of soot.

If you hit the rev limiter you'll puff a good amount of smoke.

sassyspeed3 09-11-2012 04:16 PM

*sigh*

let me take a picture of how black my license plate is from the soot.

just clean it off. nothing to worry about.

MS3BPS2286 09-11-2012 04:19 PM

Yeah I just called them and they said the car has been sitting on the lot for a while to run it for 48 more hours and when the tank runs close to E Fill it with high octane clean the back off and see if that doesnt fix the problem. Either Old gas or some one put low octane in it.

abiezerf 09-11-2012 04:21 PM

Please man just search so nobody will flame you. We can even make pretend this didn't happen.

On a lighter note...welcome to MSF, search, donate, and noodz please.

This website has a lot of tools for noobs and people willing to learn about our cars. GL!

Keko 09-11-2012 04:27 PM

Doesn't sound like an issue. My pu was dropping smoke screens and soot particles on people since it rolled off the lot brand new.

MS3BPS2286 09-11-2012 04:32 PM

Thanks guys I really appreciate it. Ill throw some high octane in her to make sure some noobtard diddnt run shit gas in it. And see if it helps. And lol @ the dropping soot on people since it rolled off the floor. Last night I was trying to get my buddy to run me he has a 2010 Genesis 2.0T and talks trash I want to line up next to him.

MZRSPEED 09-11-2012 04:36 PM

It's normal man, i once had a guy ask if my car was diesel after accelerating from them leaving a red ight...no worries.

Dash08 09-11-2012 04:45 PM

Oh man, so many trolls.

It's one thing to flame a guy on the internet, but telling him to make an appointment at the dealer and actually go through all that bullshit for something that is totally normal for this car is completely fucked up. That shit isn't funny and is going way too far.

We didn't even do shit like that back in 08' when this place was really barbaric.
@MS3BPS2286 your car is fine and it is completely normal. Do more research and donate to this forum for access to everything you need to know about this car.

Deldran 09-11-2012 04:46 PM

HAHAHAHA.

What is up with the brownies lately damn

Pseud0logik 09-11-2012 04:50 PM

OP needs to read and get a tune. The back of my white MS3 is spotless.

It's simple.

New car, anything out of the ordinary from previous vehicles triggers panic.

They rush to related forum without researching and start posting wildly.

blahrios 09-11-2012 05:26 PM

Welcome and congrats on the car man! Good color choice ;)

Mclovin80 09-11-2012 05:29 PM

At least no one told him to run a can of Seafoam through the throttle body to see if it would help.....:fest30:

eurolatin336 09-16-2012 10:53 AM

im not trying to start shit up, just my experience so far.... i just also got a 2010 ms3 and i dont see any black smoke when i let off ...... good to know as i get up in km that this is normal...... however i do have the bottom of my exhaust as black as the car

mind you first thing i did to the car was check all fluids and been running 94 octane ever since i bought it.

motherfnmonsta 09-16-2012 11:15 AM

I have a 2012 and when I get on I can see exhaust smoke coming out to, but can not tell what color due to tinted windows, but my exhaust tips are are black. I think you are over reacting, only smoke you need to worry about is when you have white smoking coming out at idle or you start putting smoke out like spy hunter when driving normal. Also I suggest that you donate so you can gain access to your nator brothers and maybe see if any one would be interesting in helping you do a valve cleaning job on the intake side.

bobbybennett23 09-16-2012 11:35 AM

O have figured out about the soot on the bumper is from the water in your tail
Pipes mixes with all the soot in the pipes when it's a cold start if you let it warm up you wont have this problem I dont anymore and mines white I see it all

Stingray69 09-16-2012 08:48 PM

PM this guy @Kris Speed3 CWP he has done all the homework on the soot issue. This place is getting kinder and gentler didn't even flame OP. Soot is normal, my tips are now smoked silver...........literally.

865ms3 09-16-2012 09:02 PM

mine shoots flames and smells like burnt corn....should i contact the dealer for an appointment??

OP its normal as everyone said. :) welcome and enjoy.

texasboy21 09-16-2012 09:19 PM

Hmmm not running e85 are we lol

MS3BPS2286 09-17-2012 08:31 AM

Thank you everyone. I was panicing and should have researched. The car since has put out barely any soot. I drover her for a few days filled it with 93 and shees golden now. Yes I will be a VIP here shortly. Seems as if this MZR platform is way more complicated then the other cars I had. So thanks to everyone. I done some research as well and seen the Rich tune from the factory ordeal SO An Intake/TIP and Cobb AP are my next 3 steps.

m4tic 09-17-2012 09:10 AM

soot is a byproduct of direct injection... when your fuel forms droplets (instead of fine mist/spray, from being incredibly rich) it will just poof into soot and live on the back of your car until you wash it off. also you'll notice the exhaust spitting out black water after sitting overnight where condensation builds up in the exhaust piping.

mzr0818 09-17-2012 09:12 AM

Soot means your diving it correctly. LOL at make an appointment.

Read, search, read more.

This is why I only posted once when I bought the car in April. Most are pretty cool here but there are a few fuck head ego bitches who would rather flame then help promote this forum. And god forbid if you want to keep it stock. It has gotten better but there are still a few dickweeds.

Yea no worries, I have a 2012 that spots carbon on the back at times.

Shadow 09-17-2012 11:05 AM

If your not shooting flames your doing it wrong. Suit is for babies.

Just because I was rational this time doesn't mean I will remain so in the future.

This is all on a case by case basis.

If you fuck up or do something stupid, I'm gonna flame you for it. This goes for everyone. I am an equal opportunity offender.

If you start to get pissed off, remember this... Behind every lewd comment and offensive remark made on this forum, there is a person laughing at the giving end.

None of what you are angry about is serious. It's all a big joke.

See my sig for further details.

Just another day on MSF.

rfinkle2 09-17-2012 07:14 PM

Wait until you step on the brakes hard a few times and your entire car is covered in black dust on the sides and black soot on the rear.

Welcome to turbocharging.

pacheco_ms3 09-18-2012 01:40 PM

mine did that for a while when i first bought it, it eventually went away

Onelovesoccer 09-18-2012 02:00 PM

@MS3BPS2286, stock tune runs rich, no biggie. also, your friend with the 2010 2.0T should be easy work for you.

himurax13 09-18-2012 02:06 PM

If you want to keep the soot off your bumper I would look into getting a Catback Exhaust with longer Tips or just get longer tips installed. My car generates lanfills worth of soot and none of it touches my bumper ;).

xI Leveler Ix 09-18-2012 02:07 PM

Listen to Dash08, that's normal for our cars. Mine doesn't do it, but it's a normal thing.

Hawksfinebyme 09-18-2012 02:23 PM

Love this place! Welcome to the forum!

silvapain 09-18-2012 02:28 PM

What's with all the damn random numbers and characters in some screen names? It looks like someone ate a can of baked beans and a can of alphabet soup, had a massive diarrhea shit, took a picture of the contents in the toilet, then signed up on MSF.

Fuck editing a post three times just to get someone's name right for a mention.

silvapain 09-18-2012 02:28 PM

Oh, and welcome OP.

BlueDmnSpeed 09-18-2012 02:37 PM

ooh man your lucky today OP. normally you would have goten your ass chewed and told to go to m247.com. lol anyways add fuel pump internals to that list of first mods. also donate research and post noodz of hott GF, wife, or sister(preferably just log on and have her upload them while your back is turned cause it'd be a little creepy looking at noodz of a sister) but we want noodz of hot women in your life so add them to the dirty bastards club section after you donate

fortressofcomfort 09-18-2012 03:12 PM

Next up: Why is there soot on my front wheels? After that, why is my oil silvery looking after only 3000 miles?

xtwoonamatchx 09-23-2012 02:04 PM

Be prepared for your wheels and exhaust to match. I bought the car with silver wheels and exhaust. 1000 miles later everything is a nice shade of charcoal.

ThizSpeed3 09-23-2012 02:17 PM

^what he said.

my speed3 soots far less than it did when it was breaking in, but now exhaust tips are constant black and my wheels stay dusty:hitwithrock:
