It has been pissing here for several days. When it stops, I will do a re-eval. I do have a feeling the tips are not completely the way they need to be to limit the soot. I might need to do so additional modifying.

So what is your conclusion to this fix, has overall soot levels decreased or just use this to replace your aging muffler before warranty expires? Then put aftermarket and sell new piece to a 2.5L gen 2 owner to pay for the aftermarket one?

I'll be damned if I'm takin my ride in to get a muffler with a hole cut in it. Not even worth the probability of a dealership monkey scratching my paint or maybe just blowing the motor fucking around in it.

I would say the results are unsatisfactory. Less soot for sure, but not enough less to make it worth taking the time to drop off your car.

Mine is under 2k mi as well. On friday I changed the factory oil out for rotella t6 5w-40 and i feel like the soot is building up slower. Might just be me, but I'll know in a couple weeks.

I have 1500 miles on my 12... changed to synthetic at 1K and haven't had a soot problem since. Logs show that I'm still running pig rich under WOT (OTS stage1 map)... so I'm surprised that the problem went away. Guess I got lucky... but the soot level issues can vary widely from car to car.
