new owner of a 12 tech Sitting in the dealership right now getting a 2012 tech with 9k miles on it. Just a couple if questions. I'm not super good with car mechanics and I noticed that it has a Cobb intake on it. what would be the best way to find out what other mods are on it already. I expressed my confers about not having internals and not knowing what the previous owner did to it. I am getting a lifetime warranty on the transmission and engine and I made them put in writing that it would not be voided by aftermarket parts. Purchase price was $20000. The other question is how long did it take to get used to the clutch? I've driven sticks all my life and that shit is tricky. |
I had trouble with the clutch at first, you'll get used to it. I actually like it now but hated it when I bought it. |
Same here about the clutch. OP, Did you check out the links in @Raider sig? |
Yeah the clutch is pretty sensitive. I still don't always shift perfectly from 1-2. I feel like the RPMs "float" alot in this car so you just gotta take your time |
After getting used to the Mazdaspeed clutch, it felt like all other car clutches felt... weird. |
obvious troll is obvious? |

It took me weeks to get the clutch smooth, and I still can't nail it all the time. I did notice that once I stopped using AC last week I was spot on with the throttle - so the compressor and/or throttle mapping with the compressor on will trip you up. |
Yeah, if you have the A/C on your RPMs will drop like a mofo inbetween shifts. I have to shift fast as fuck with it on |
Just 1 post by OP?.........starting to look like a troll imo. |
bought a 2012 w/ tech for $20,000. only 9k. Original owner probably did something bad and traded it for cheap. |
Where is said vehicle located? Sounds an awful lot like a 'Speed3 on the lot at the dealership where I work. |
I'm surprised everyone thinks this is a troll... if so this is the most mild attempt at trolling I've ever seen. |
Lol not a troll. I actually have a couple of posts but it seemed kind of retarded to post on a car forum when I was driving a Tacoma. I did read through the used car buying guide but with only 9k and a warrant I wasn't overly concerned. their tech told me that if I have any problems that he would check it out for me. like I stated in op, I got it in writing that I have lifetime drivetrain regardless of mods. For those asking about price, it was listed as a base model for $22875 and I told them I had a quote on a brand new one for $22800. He said that the car had been setting there for a couple of months and if I showed him the offer for a new one then he would see what kind of a loss they would tale. I showed them and they took it just to get rid of it. I'm sure they are going to recoup their loss with my trade. everything looks/feels super clean but I don't know what mods are on it. it has a Cobb intake and they powdercoated the rims black. The car is silver. I bou.ght it from Toyota Knoxville in Tennessee. I've been at work all night and haven't gotten to drive much but I'm loving it so far. |
I came from a Tacoma as well... Quite an upgrade |
Nice enjoy the car donate you get a lot of useful info and read @Raider sig |

Hi! my sig is here |
There's a button that says "enter" with an arrow that is on the right side of the keyboard, and about midway down. We use this to create paragraphs that magically make our posts easier to read. Try it out sometime. Its like, super cool brah. |
I was using the text feature on my phone so no new paragraphs. I just got insurance on it and I noticed that on my card it is listed as a Mazda 3 "i" touring model, but the VIN is correct. Should I be worried about this? |
