New Treadstone FMIC Kit

Check this out..Looks like treadstone released their own genpu FMIC kit on Sept 12th. Pretty legit. TR8 intercooler. 2.5″ Mandrel bent aluminum piping, powder coated wrinkle black, includes an optional meth bung port right before the throttle body & comes with crash bar. Sorry if this was posted already I just haven't seen anything on it.

blake0521 09-14-2014 05:26 PM

Fuck me I just bought an FMIC!

kbz0129 09-14-2014 05:33 PM

I was just browsing FMIC's for my big turbo build to fit with my JMF intake mani and I saw they just added the kit two days ago so I figured I would throw some MSF publicity at it lol

Decently priced for what it is also. $900 dollars, beats out most other kits that require a crash bar.

blake0521 09-14-2014 05:33 PM

Looks like the same piping as the cobb kit. Was planing on replacing my CXracing piping with cobb piping but maybe I can snag some from tread stone for cheaper! Cobb wants 600 for a piping kit. This kit is one hell of a deal though! 899.00 for a bigger core then cobb and pretty much the same piping. I bet they will jack the price up if they start selling them like crazy.

kbz0129 09-14-2014 05:37 PM

I was going to buy the Cobb piping for my intake mani and a treadstone tr8 but with this I wont have to cut my crash bar which is a huge plus. Not to mention I can run and extra meth bung just so I can monitor intake temps with my direct port meth injection without having to get another bung welded.

blake0521 09-14-2014 05:38 PM

Let me know how much they quote you for piping only. Might go the route too when the time comes for meth and turbo.

kbz0129 09-14-2014 05:40 PM

I will more than likely end up buying the whole kit. I can't imagine the piping being anymore than the cobb. It actually looks exactly like cobb piping if you compare the two.

blake0521 09-14-2014 05:43 PM

I just shot them an email asking how much piping is. I hope the say 400ish because that will save me a good bit of money. Make a how to thread if ya end up getting it so we can all see your impressions of the quality of the kit if ya can!

kbz0129 09-14-2014 05:46 PM

It very well may be cheaper being that Cobb's kit is more expensive with a smaller core and no crash bar. Let us know what they say about the price for just piping. But someone else will probably beat me to the install. I'm deployed right now and wont be able to install until the end of March. :/

Snyeed 09-14-2014 05:51 PM

It says 2007+ on the banner, i wonder if they test fitted it on a genwon.

kbz0129 09-14-2014 05:53 PM

I also saw that...I wonder what's up because the piping looks exactly like Cobb's genpu piping.

blake0521 09-14-2014 06:01 PM

Also looks like you have to reuse the stock turbo coupler? If compared to cobb it is missing one for install, hot pipe to ic then ic to cold pipe one then cold pipe one to cold pipe to then cold pipe to TB. Its missing turbo to hot pipe.... unless i am retarded and miss one.

kbz0129 09-14-2014 06:04 PM

The big L-shaped coupler should be turbo to hot pipe. I'm pretty sure that is a Cobb piping kit with the extra Treadstone goodies to make a kit lol

blake0521 09-14-2014 06:11 PM

Ok got it. So the hot pipe is two pieces and the cold pipe one piece. Wouldn't you still need 5 couplers not 4 like in the kits picture?

kbz0129 09-14-2014 06:23 PM

Idk i'm pretty sure you are right(unless i'm counting wrong also) but I can't imagine them selling you the kit with a missing coupler lol.

I added a pic to the OP also.

blake0521 09-14-2014 06:30 PM

I hope not! The funny part is there are 10 clamps but with only 4 couplers. 4*2=8 clamps so i would imagine that they just spaced and forgot to put the 5th coupler in the picture. Or they want you to play the fun game called the "guess which part I am missing to finish my install" game hahahaha.

kbz0129 09-14-2014 06:33 PM

Well I'm buying this on Wednesday, I'll have my wife unbox it and send me pics.

blake0521 09-14-2014 06:36 PM

Sweet! Looking forward to seeing the kit and impressions down the road. Good luck on the build when you get home and thanks for your service.

kbz0129 09-14-2014 06:43 PM

Can't wait to get home and see how it all goes together and don't mention it:unitedstates:

Tokay444 09-14-2014 06:47 PM

Doesn't Cobb piping bolt to one of the tmic posts?

kbz0129 09-14-2014 06:49 PM

Yeah, it bolts to the post on the left of the intake manifold.

Tokay444 09-14-2014 07:00 PM

That answers that.

kbz0129 09-14-2014 07:02 PM

Both kits have the same mounting location. Treadstone and Cobb both mount using the same post. Look closely at the hot pipe in the OP.

SaveMelMac 09-14-2014 07:24 PM

I was going to wait and see the jbr kit but now I think I might jump on this one.

illegal shishkebab 09-14-2014 09:13 PM

And that relentless vc and pnp intake....

kbz0129 09-14-2014 09:15 PM

Who's car did they use?? That's a question.

illegal shishkebab 09-14-2014 09:18 PM

Probably local at south florida

kbz0129 09-14-2014 09:19 PM

Makes sense.

blake0521 09-14-2014 09:50 PM

Now we just need someone on here to install it to see how good the piping kit is.

Mazdaspeed3KHP 09-14-2014 11:31 PM

Oh boy how I wish JBR would finish the long awaited kit. I know it will be worth the wait.

blake0521 09-14-2014 11:45 PM

Still think it's kinda weird that the jbr kit is going to be mostly silicon. Wouldent aluminum handle higher boost since it can't stretch? The only up side I can see is possible lower temps because the silicon would insulate better and resist heat from the motor. It seems strange that the first wrx fmic kits were silicon and now I am pretty sure all of them are aluminum.

Insulating hot air only keeps it hot. The air leaving the turbo is hotter than the ambient air in the engine bay. You don't want silicone piping.

Mike@Stratified 09-15-2014 06:11 AM

Perhaps @Sid3wayS; knows who's car this is?

Sid3wayS 09-15-2014 06:17 AM

Yes I do guys name Is Joey, using our pc'd valve cover and mani, im not sure if he is on here or not. He is local to the orlando guys....

jdmage_mx5 09-15-2014 07:08 AM

This seems like an excellent kit for those shopping for FMIC. It pretty much has what everyone wants in a kit; very few couplers, TR8, Crashbar, and meth bung option.

I was supporting JBR's FMIC kit for the longest but it has taken forever to be released. Having patience is not exactly a quality of mine. Im pretty happy with my CPE FMIC, but if I had to buy another one this kit would definitely be in my radar.

ImGryssLOL 09-15-2014 09:27 AM

I'm going to buy this in about 8 and a half minutes

I don't get why they chose to go that route then. Will make the install easier since it will be flexible but still think hard piping has the upper hand here.

I know one Joey at Orlando but he has black pu ;?

Mx52star 09-15-2014 09:45 AM

You guys are funny, I am on here. However, I was out of town this weekend and planned to posted this when I got back, but was beat to it.
So I have some additional information/graph(s) and stuff to put up soon as I get the chance. I have been running the kit for a while and I am very impressed with the whole kit, the fit & finish is spot on plus it had all the options and features I was looking for in a kit including the sexy wrinkle black piping we all love:)
I will answer any questions you guys have to the best of my ability, I may not be able to respond to you within 5 min due to my crazy work/school schedule, but I post your questions and I will answer.

Also for any of those in the UCF area if you want to see it or have any questions PM me! I will be at the meet on Tuesday too.

Whats his last name.

ImGryssLOL 09-15-2014 09:48 AM

Ha, So i'm on hold with customer service to order one. I wanted to make sure they actually had them before I paid for one.

I was just told they are sold out atm but they should have some more in "two weeks".

ImGryssLOL 09-15-2014 10:06 AM

Okay, so I ordered it. They have everything in stock except for the crashbar. They are going to ship me everything but that now then the crash bar in "two weeks"

kbz0129 09-15-2014 11:03 AM

These are now for sale on Edgeautosport also.

ImGryssLOL 09-15-2014 11:37 AM

It won't pop up if you search it by car and then go into intercooler/fmic
But if you type in treadstone mazdaspeed 3 fmic it will pop up

My IM stud was shaved off too, just drill and tap in the location of the factory stud then use a bolt. That will allow you to secure the hot pipe down. When it comes to using the Tr6, yes it does have the overall length as the Tr8 plus it is short enough to fit under the factory crash bar so it will fit. However, it will require custom brackets to mount the Tr6 and trimming to fit.

For those who are curious too, I will be posting some detailed pictures of my car when i get the front bumper off this weekend with the setup installed.

Sorry man, that was a mistake they got fixed ASAP. They had a lot of people interested in the genpu kit, I am sure if enough people called in with interest in the genwon kit they would consider producing a kit.

Attached below is a little graph setup to show a couple parameters on a 2nd-4th gear pull. Ambient temp was 95F

Shoot dude. I would buy the kit anyways and sell the crash bar to a gen2 owner. I would how much of a difference the routing would be between both gens'

blake0521 09-16-2014 10:55 AM

Considering that the cobb gen one vs gen two piping kits are extremely different I would say that it won't work.

blake0521 09-17-2014 12:47 AM

Piping kit, crash bar and full fmic kit are now up on the Treadstone site. Piping kit runs 500 bucks so 100 cheaper than the cobb piping kit. Thinking I will go this route when i replace my shitty cxracing piping.

Jdraps13 09-17-2014 02:31 AM

For those who do know, Treadstone is offering the complete FMIC kit forsale, also piping only and crash bar only. So you can buy a complete kit or improve on your existing setup. Whatever the case may be just call or email them and they will help you out.

Because too lazy to double check the fitment thus needs the adjustability of flexible piping.

Also can then have it manufactured by someone else.

illegal shishkebab 09-17-2014 08:02 PM

i saw joey's car last night at meet. Kit is awesome, definitely best kit for money base, piping is similar to cobb v2, so no touching, crash bar is good looking, and tr8 core. For $900 is worth money..

ffz 09-22-2014 01:14 AM

Will it definitely not fit a Genwon? (I mean pipework and core, I know the crash bar won't)

I have a Pu, and previously had the Forge FMIC which was made for the Genwon, and now have HDI pipework, which is also only for a Genwon.

This kit does look good though - I'd have been all over this like a fat kid on a cupcake if I hadn't already made my own crash bar and modded the HDI to fit (because of my core size, nothing else).

I know there are a couple similarities between the genwon and genpu kit, but this kit will NOT fit a genwon. It has not been attempted; however, like I said there are some common bents shared with that genwon kit, but there are also some key differences as well.

JTMS3 09-22-2014 06:16 AM

I'm pretty sure you can thank me for the sale of just the crash bar. I spoke to their sales manager 3 weeks ago and convinced him to sell me one after sending him pics of the tr8 on my car. I told him he is missing the boat on more $ if he just sold it alone, guess he listened. Haha

Production on the bar should be done this week I believe. I have one already on order.

Mx52star 09-22-2014 06:55 AM

I really like my crash bar, it fit with zero modification. I didn't have to enlarge the holes or anything. It's very rigid, but light weight as well. @JTMS3;

Also sorry to those who wanted to see more pictures. The weather was super crapy in WhOrlando this weekend and wasn't able to get it done.

You should know better than to email them a copy of your cac card (especially advise others to do the same). Just an email from a .mil email should be enough... good discount though.

kbz0129 09-22-2014 10:21 PM

Discount knocks the price down quite a bit, $720 makes this kit a no brainer.

I also emailed them from my military email address and that did not suffice but +1 on the CAC card. Shouldn't be emailing pictures of it, but hey that 20% is nice.

I blocked out the important parts like ssn dob etc... just left the name and picture obviously I'm not encouraging people to fully disclose their cac cards. I unfortunately was never given a .mil email since I was in a line platoon and never did any of the h & s stuff. A dd214 works as well.

If you are x-military that is a huge discount, plus RPM is offering a pretty cool deal right now with the group-buy sale.

Has anyone received the FMIC entire kit yet? I am excited to see all your reviews of it. I know I have been extremely impressed with everything thing about my kit.
Also if anyone has any questions don't hesitate to ask, plus if anyone in CFL bought a kit let me know I would be glad to help you install it.

Do they have discounts for emergency personnel such as police/fire rescue/EMT? Worth a shot....

Give them a call 888-789-4586, it's always worth a shot.
