I installed mine tr8 full kit for the gen2 this afternoon.

Started at 12 15 pm and semi finished around 7.

Many fitment issues. Crash bar wouldn't line up perfectly takes alot of forcing to get it to line up right.

Some couplers need to be shaved down.

Meth bung was not the same thread pattern and the lighting was poor so I didn't not noticed and stripped it out.. I'm extremely upset with the quality treadstone pushed out.

Holy crap! It took you 7 hours? I don't have that kind of time tomorrow. I really was thinking this was a 2 to 3 hour install.

I was also installing my ets tmic on to a buddies car smoking and joking as well. I was in no rush by any means. When the sun went down I didn't care bc all I had to do was the meth bung...then the fun began.

It's funny that one of the first kits is still one of the best. Those cores are beautiful and they only use three pipes.

Fills the entire opening completely. No modifying the crash bar, and it's only 20ci smaller than a tr10.

Oh and fits.

Well it is on. The kit sucks. Fitment is awful. So far all my couplers are holding so we will see how long that lasts. I should have just kept my TMIC and saved myself a whole day of headaches and $900. Their quality control is either awful or they never finished enough R&D to make sure the kit fits well.

The brackets have to be installed backwards to keep the IC from hitting the radiator. They also aren't drilled in the center so if you flip sides they stick out from under the crash bar. Also if you don't install them backwards the piping has no way of connecting to the IC. When they are flipped you still have to put the pipe coming from the turbo into a hell of a bind in the coupler to even get it to connect. The meth bung has been discussed already but it is an issue. A tow bung for plate relocation would be nice but I knew that wasn't part of the deal when I bought it so I can't say much there.

The customer service needs a lot of work as well. My opinion is that they need to pull this kit and fix it before they make a really bad name for themselves. On a positive note, the TR8 core is a really nice piece.

This kit fit like a bag of dicks. Make that a double bag of dicks since I also installed a throttle body spacer meth plate.

I ended up shifting the brackets down a hole on each side to move the core to the drivers side of the car. Everything seems to fit a bit better then.

The holes on the crash bar didn't line up but a little muscle work and the bar went on.

Meth bung is a disaster, don't even bother using it. Do not use the aluminum plug of fuckery.

They need to include 3x 300mm clamps, 1 for the throttle body and 2 for the end tanks of the core. Trying to fit the 275mm clamps on the end tanks resulted in me screaming something about "fucking faggot horse shit clamps" in front of a group of 5 year olds playing in their yard. THANKS OBAMA.

Related, the DM meth plate had zero install issues and works like a fucking champ.

Yep. Was your TB coupler a hair too large too? I ended up taking the t-bolts completely apart to get them around the core inlets.

Nah. Fit fine on mine. I had a few extra 300mm clamps laying around in the garage. Lucky me.

I have pictures as well but they are of the same issues. I flipped my brackets to move the IC out from the radiator.

Make sure every pic gets sent to treadstone. These kind of issues shouldn't be happening on a platform that has been around for a bit. It seems like they saw a quick chance to make some dough and didn't bother doing proper r&d. The meth bung should have never been a problem let alone the bullshit with the crash bar. Those are parts that should have been no brainers.........and yet

I guess I should mention I flipped the brackets to move the core forward as well, but without install directions I can't say they are "backwards"

Based on my interactions with the owner, he won't care about the issues because he has his money.

This seems to be an issue with recent kits released by people. Pg's kit was pretty shitty, but compared to this one it looks glorious.....and cheaper. Cx racing also has issues but again
.....still not as bad as ts. Such a shame that a company can make great cores fucks the pooch when it comes to the other parts that matter.

So has anyone NOT had issues with the Meth bung plug or trouble getting things to line up... besides the guy who had the kit fit on his car for initial testing?

And I reiterate that I did. 3 times. 3 emails too. Spoke with the owner and told him that rumblings of poor customer service were beginning. He told me he would handle it and he didn't. He passed it off to someone else who still screwed the pooch. At this point I'm just content to have learned my lesson and move on. :/

@ImGryssLOL; I guess we shouldn't have dismissed your issues up front as being a one-off pre-production issue.

And I know this never happens on MSF, but I'm sorry for assuming your fitment issues were due to your lack of mechanical skill. It appears we all suck at installing this kit.

Did your meth bung plug go in without any issues?

I couldn't even get mine back out. Vise grips were just chewing it up; Since it was sealing, I didn't drill it.

I rarely if ever strip bolts, this thing stripped before I even realized it was about to. Felt kind of like there was some overspray on the threads, or maybe a rough cut on one of them. Nothing out of the ordinary.

For the bung I'm thinking it was a fine thread vs coarse thread issue. Fine thread plug, coarse thread bunghole (giggity)

Mine was doodoo as well. If you read back a few pages I mention it. I didn't strip it but I found metal shavings in it and had to use liquid Teflon to get it to seal.

I didn't want to make a big deal about all the bullwhip with this kit at first and start a flame war if it was just mine that was fucked but issues with so many. I had coupler issues. Clamp issues. General fitment issues and massive customer service issues. I'll do a full on proper write up at some point but it isn't pretty but I like the finish of the kit and it's a lot better then my cpe top mount but the headache...

And I appreciate the pseudo apology. There's always I chance I'm an idiot but I am a ase master mechanic with years of experience and this is far from my first rodeo.

In the end I was really hoping it was just my kit and my experience that was shit. But I have a feeling these things will get worse before they get better.

in what way? or do you mean in general terms that a FMIC is better than TMIC and therefore your FMIC is an upgrade to your TMIC?

My other huge concern is how fucked am I going to be when I install my wmi kit that is just in waiting for my e85 tune to be done before I move onto it. This like that is super annoying

When I went bt I noticed heatsoak being much more of an issue. The FMIC shows 10-15 colder driving and takes a good while to heat up in traffic or really aggressive driving. I loved the cpe quality and install obviously was amazing being all of 6 minutes

Oh and fits.
Your post plus a Thanks from Freektune is enough to make me look into their kit.

Seems simple enough. Sure is nice to own a gen1.

I should be getting my piping and crashbar tomorrow. I will post pics of what mine looks like as well. It seems like widening the holes a bit in a few areas will easily solve the problem, also maybe some hump/flex couplers. However I do agree that it is a huge over sight on their part. Rather unfortunate really...

I'm still happy with RPM they gave everyone a fantastic deal, it's just treadstone's manufacturing that seems botched. Now I feel like pressure testing the tr10 I got already. The welds looked a little dirty, no big deal at all, but by the sounds of everything going on I wouldn't be surprised now if I find a small leak somewhere.

Assuming my parts come in tomorrow and UPS doesn't delay it a day (common issue here), I'll swing by Lowe's and see if i can find a bolt pattern to match the meth bung. I'll also snap some pics of it to confirm if the threads are tapped properly or not.

And to think I was once so excited about this kit. LOL

Fwiw the bung and plug should both be 1/8 inch pipe thread.

If it's not then treadstone is just completely retarded.
