Next Speed Going to be 3 Sedan? I read the other day that the next Mazda Speed offering may be the 3 sedan- in 2014. The 3 is going to be re-designed and lose hundreds of pounds. Has anyone else heard this or have more information? Are they going to stick with the current 2.3L turbo engine? What a thrill that will be if they do- lighter and faster car. It will stink if they lighten the car and go to a smaller engine with less HP and torque. |

Why would they bother with a sedan and screw with the market in you know...the rest of the world? |
They are putting in a 6 rotor 6 turbo, 12 speed. Will be gas/electric/hydrogen tribrid. |
and AWD |
I have a reliable source that says the new speed will be the CX-9 |
it will come with nos from the factory for bottle refills just hit the dealership and let them know you need a big one....better yet...make it 2. |
Roof mounted rally style scoop for fresh air inlet for the cabin. NACA ducts to cool the Wilwood brakes, with a top and front mounted intercooler. |
I heard the 2015 is gonna be full electric and shoot lightning out the tailpipe |
20 liter v12. 6 wheel drive. runs on piss and shit mixture. (50/50) |
Sedan... Keep dreaming. That shit wouldn't sell. Speed 6 didn't even sell with awd, even AFTER lowering the price in 2007. |

They offered me a ms6 GT loaded 15,000 out the door, when I ordered my ms3 in 2006. |
Guys guys guys...you have it all wrong...its going to be a limo like in viva la bam with nitrous, 6wd, and 3 tri turbo 20b's...1 to power each set of wheels Sent from my GS3 |
there won't be a speed3 sedan because the apocalypse will have happened by then so mazda will wait until the model year after |
They will stay with MS3 because they sell. They might have a second speed such as the miata again but it will never be a speed 6. They didn't sell that much, the overall price is higher than the average person would pay. The market is young kids most of the time fresh out of high school where there parents are paying for the car and the kid wants it to be fast. The speed 6 was to high, anybody willing to pay that money could add a little more money and go STI or Evo. |
If you really think about it what is the point of producing a speed 3 sedan? It becomes an expensive, fast, economy car. The speed 3 as is, is incredibly alluring because it is a "hot hatch". It is a functional, fast, affordable and arguably very visually appealing. I own a speed 3 and a standard 3 sedan. I bought the standard 3 because of its great gas mileage and the fact that it is a ridiculously affordable car with a shit ton of amenities. I bought my speed 3 because it is a roomy, utilitarian speed wagon. If the equipment packages were reversed i would never have made the same purchase because low horse power hatchbacks feel like driving around red wood trees. Just some food for thought, i could be COMPLETELY wrong. |
...or they could offer both sedan and hatch. i do hope they continue with their mazdaspeed line since it doesn't seem like they're putting any effort in making a new one. it's all skyactive now. |
Mazdaspeed2. Turbo'd Skyactive. :) |

It seems like having the option of either sedan or hatch has turned out well for the subaru sti fans. I see the new sedans everywhere. I suppose this may have something to do with the original sti being a sedan but in my opinion the speed3 looks much more appealing than the speed6. I think having the option of sedan or hatch has potential to be successful. But total fail of only released as sedan. But in reality this will probably never happen. |
you guys are all talking like a speed 3 sedan would be based off the 6 platform....it would be a 3 sedan with a speed motor and would probably look pretty good. that said, I don't think it will happen. focus st is hatch only. gti is hatch only. srt4s were hatch only in the last iteration, although the new dart will change that in the future. I like my hatch. |
Id definitely drive a Speed3 sedan. I love my hatch but a well designed sedan would be sex Sent from my GS3 |
