Next Steps So I got the rest of my parts in today and want to do an etune. I did some research on freak tune and stratified tune but still have some questions. It seems like stratified is much stricter about the tuning process than freak is but I may be crazy. There tune seems to come with lots of conditions such as if you take longer then a month you are charged. That being said it also seems like they are the top end solution due to this strictness and the fact that pretty much any build or tuning thread has a post from them. Both co's have great reviews on here which makes it even harder for a newbie! So basically when it comes down to it which company is better to go with? I feel confident both will provide a good product but I still don't know which one to commit to. Might just go ots+ for a bit then get a full tune. Any help or personal experience with these companies would be greatly appreciated. |
FREEKTUNE. Take a lil longer due to high demand, but no late fees.... IMO the fact that he's high demand should speak for itself |
I am about to go the same path and I am giving Stratified first go. You have to remember these guys are not billing for all the time spent answering noob questions and teaching us what we should do. They are giving IMO a far higher level of service with an individual tune than you will get from say APR where you buy the hardware and matching OTS tune. |
Both are great. I personally wouldn't like being retricted to only 1 month. From experience, if your car or turbo has nothing wrong then you finishing up in one month shouldn't be a problem. Lex is a nice guy and I'm sure he will work with you if something unforseen comes up. That being said. There are other top notch tuners that are not vendors but are very active on the forum. |
No wrong choice with either of them. Both help the community a lot and get good feedback from people running their tunes. As @specvspeedfreak said though there are other options, just not vendors on the forum. Stratified and FreekTune probably have done more tunes and have been doing it longer than most others though. I have a lot of respect for both companies personally. |
Does Freek load or boost K04's? or is it just car to car kinda deal? |
Well I just put the ap in and flashed the ots stage 2 map and holy shit! If a generic tune can do that then I am beyond stoked for a custom tune! |

Go Stratified just because they're Canadian ;) Either one (and many of the others around here that do custom tunes) will make you happy. |
Flip a coin. |
I had the same dilemma and I decided to go with Freektune. Stratified is more expensive so that's something to consider. It took about a week once we started going. I got my base map right away but we had to wait to really get going because I was waiting for my TMIC and boost tubes to come in. Once I got parts on, it took about 5 days to get it dialed in. My mod list is in the signature and I obviously don't have anything too crazy so I'm sure it was a pretty easy car for him to tune. I wouldn't worry about it taking a long time now that Justin and Rob are both doing the tunes. Quote:

Well at first my cobb ots stage 2 91 map was only getting me barley 15 psi of boost but i swapped out my bpv for the cobb xle and now am hitting 17 easy...guess my oem bvp leaked pretty bad! |

Both are great companies and you won't be disappointed either way! |
