Who's insurance did you talk to about diminished value? Your insurance co wouldn't pay this ever, it would be up to her insurance (Geico) to provide compensation. I know that in PA the case law and precedent is against you. Just sucks. Were you planing on keeping the car before this? If you were to turn around and sell the car you are going to be out $2000-$3000 in value based on this accident. Might be worth contacting a sheister lawyer that only gets paid if you win to see if they will tackle it.

I spoke to my insurance about it but they pretty much said no insurance will pay diminished value in PA and Geico is known to try to keep every nickel and dime. Also, I have heard reports where insurance companies will spend a lot more just to see you lose in court than an actual settlement just to make an example. All in all even though I was not at fault it still has adverse affects on me.

I terms of selling the car I was thinking about it after the accident because I was kinda pissed. But there are also good points, I was really looking into a VW GTI because of fuel economy and comfort. But again if this were to occur it would be towards the end of summer or end of the year where I can find some good deals...or I can get in my Speed and decide to keep it It's been only two weeks and boy do I miss having a fun car to drive. I called Enterprise Rental to see if I can switch out of my charger to a Mazda 3, just waiting for some to come in...

This really all sucks, it wasn't your fault that some idiot landed on top of your car, so you should have to pay for it in the end (by the value of the car going down) IMO they should total it, but i guess that's why i'm not an insurance adjuster...good luck with everything!

If that dealer replaced even one turbo, they would know that there is a coolant line going to the turbo.

Hahaha. Is this really gonna happen here? While oil does contain some cooling properties, it's primary purpose is that of reducing friction. Ergo, Mazda folks were retarded.
You wouldn't lubricate a turbo with water because it cools the bearings better. Just like our turbo isn't oil cooled, because water does it better.

Just because it doesn't do it as well as the coolant doesn't mean it isn't carrying away heat.

They had to restrict this in motorcycle racing because "air cooled" 1200cc motors were classed with the 600cc motors with radiators. The problem was the "air cooled" motors started running massive oil coolers, essentially turning the oil into a pretty effective coolant.

If you want to get all assholish and technical the turbo is air, water and oil cooled.

I don't want to get all assholeish, and nowhere did I try to say that the oil had no cooling properties. In fact I stated quite the opposite. Buni hardly see this thread as being the proper venue to entertain my opinions on the Mazda techs mental capacity in not knowing there were water lines going to and from our turbos for the purpose of cooling.

UPDATE:

So after a full week of calling the insurance and making multiple trips to the dealer I have finally signed off on the dealer to start repairs. They will start the dis-assembly and parts are going to come in a week later. Initial estimate of duration is about 2 weeks.

I will keep you all informed when it is all said and done and I can finally get my beloved car back. Driving in a charger is so boring...

Hope they fix it right! I had a charger as a rental as well as a 300 when I got my ms3 worked on in an autobody clusterfuck a month ago. Huge piles of shit. Same crap motor. The key is wonky and only goes in one way in an obscure location, cruise control main resets everytime you turn off the ignition, and most of all the wiper stalk is hidden behind the Peterbilt steering wheel, making it tough to reach. But you can full the trunk with patio pavers and bricks without many problems other than tire rub, overheating, the rear end whirring, and a clunck when shifting to drive afterwards. Give your smiley faced GenPu a hug when you get it back!

If you could afford it, I'd say rent something else. I bet even a v6 Mustang would probably be better

Yeah the warranty is still intact which is good.

And the insurance company is paying for my rental but I want something fuel efficient and fun so I am trying to get into a regular Mazda 3.

UPDATE: After a month in the shop my car is finally fixed! Drove it home this morning. Thanks everyone who gave me advice throughout this ordeal. The total cost of fixing the damage is in the mid $8000. Good thing the insurance company paid out.
