Noise. Video. MSF diagnosis game? Hi guys. Mods are listed below and are current. Here's a tiny sound clip of the sound my car makes. To delve a little deeper, it doesn't happen in fourth, fifth, or sixth gear. It doesn't happen exclusively while the tires are spinning, though on a strong third gear pull without any "perceived" wheelspin, it'll happen. First and second gear though, always. Car pulls strong, but seems to be a bit low on MAF g's. Stratified mostly attributed it to high elevation (2700ft) and high temps (tuned in 100+ degrees) for the MAF reading. The sound hasn't been properly diagnosed. Intake tract has been clamped down tight multiple times, still does it. Where else should I look? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5Yb...ature=youtu.be The noise I'm talking about is the maraca sound. Or maybe taking some sand in a tin can and shaking the shit out of it. |
Logs would be nice. Got any? Sent From a Galaxy, Far Far Away... |

My intake started making all kinds of weird noises when turned up boost. It would make a bunch of weird whining sounds mixed with a light flutter. After I changed intakes... Noise went away. I will listen on my desktop more closely tomorrow. In the meantime, fuck it. You have a warranty. Sent From a Galaxy, Far Far Away... |
I came from the Subaru world, and dealers would scan the ECU and see how many times the car has had the ecu "flashed", and that was basis for a warranty claim denial. Any idea if this happens with us? Secondly, anyone else have an idea what it might be? If I can head it off with a simple fix instead of getting the run around from the awful Mazda dealership here, I'd rather do that myself. |

It would help if you posted a log from when it happens, vs the 4th gear log you've posted in which you state in the OP it will never happen in 4, 5 or 6. |

I'll get back under there and tighten everything up and see if there's enough movement for it to be the exhaust on the frame or the heat shielding under the car. Thanks |
