The only thing i can't stand about my CWP...

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-g...s902/dirty.png

(This was half way through its washing, pre wax)

2 months no washing, after a thorough claybar and wax.

Yes, I'm saving for a AP, but its going to be a while.
And no I can't wash it every weekend (2 yr old)
Yes, I am venting. :grumpy:

CWP_MS3 01-14-2013 06:46 AM

Hah, that's nothing. Most people paint the lower portion of the bumper black, either with plastidip or real paint.

Just stay on top of the exhaust cutouts or they will stay black.

Stingray69 01-14-2013 06:55 AM

No washing for 2 months, kid can't drive through a carwash with you? Wear that shit like a turbo badge of honor.

ms3rick 01-14-2013 06:59 AM

Will never bring my car threw a car wash!

crankshaft 01-14-2013 07:02 AM

I agree, but I wash mine every weekend to clean off the zoom-zoom snot. Sometimes I just wash off the ass end mid-week because I can't stand to have a new dirty car.

I do when I want an undercarriage blast but only no touch. Fuck them roundy round brushes!

3Gee Tee 01-14-2013 07:14 AM

Your car has explosive diarrhea.

El_Diablo 01-14-2013 08:27 AM

Nothing wrong with touchless car washes..... especially when you can get them for free, lol. :moon:

kelrog 01-14-2013 10:03 AM

$ been kinda tight for going to touchless drive thru washes.
I never ever use touch washes.
They drag all the crap from everyone else's car on your clear coat.

Been seriously thinking about the plasti dip for the lower bumper after seeing the 2013's, but as you can see it won't help much for the rest of the hatch.

I wear it proudly, until I get tired of people writing wash me on it.

Volcom8190 01-14-2013 10:05 AM

simple green and water will take the soot off if you cant get it off with a normal carwash. (1/8 ratio simple green to water)

kelrog 01-14-2013 10:15 AM

Oh yeah, I remember that. I haven't bought any since my recent move to NC.

Hmm was looking into what it does to the wax job i just did, and found this. I'll have to see if I can get some to try it out, maybe i'll just need to do spot shots on the hatch once in a while. Anyone used this before?

Simple Green Wash & Wax

I like the sound of this.

This biodegradable formula produces a thick and rich foaming lather that effectively lifts-off road soils during washing — without dulling or stripping away waxed surfaces, and then leaves an added layer of protection.

No way. Harsh chemicals eat away at finish...including parts you don't wax such as rubber, headlights, etc etc.

Keko 01-14-2013 10:21 AM

My favorite cleaner is Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine. I bought a 1gal bottle for $40 and I have washed my car at least 30 times since and I've barely used any in the bottle, I think this might last me like 3 years+. It can be used for normal car wash or mixed into different amount into a spray bottle for Quick Detailer.

It's really good at removing the soot and you dont have to rinse the car off after.

kelrog 01-14-2013 10:25 AM

Actually you should wax your headlights. Keeps the clearcoat and UV on them protected.

Hmm thanks, looks cool. I like that its all in one.

rdjr74 01-14-2013 11:12 AM

Glad this came up. I just detailed my car and noticed this. Sure keeping up on it and cleaning it weekly sounds great but who the hell is gonna do that. So is there a "magic" cleaner that can get this shit off without screwing up the cars paint? I have some simple green but how is that shit on paint? How bout you try it out and get back to me. I'm more concerned around the exhaust really. This explains why they went to black around the exhaust on the 2013.

yurples 01-14-2013 11:18 AM

That's just the breaks of the game, especially with this car and in CWP. I got a 4 year old and i just have him wash the car with me about 1nce every 2 weeks, he likes it.

Chuthor 01-14-2013 11:35 AM

My CWP gets cases of mudbutt pretty regularly too. In the winter I still use the touchless even though I worry about the chemicals used, hopefully the lesser of the evils compared to all the salt used on the roads here. I don't have a garage so its kinda hard to even use no rinse when its balls cold out. Here is to hoping all the layering of Klasse holds up to car washes.

Voltron 01-14-2013 02:09 PM

Blackened tips scare riceboys.

Snapple fact yo.

ahfunaki 01-14-2013 11:11 PM

I'll trade you my BM for your CWP...

Littlescroll 01-15-2013 01:27 AM

Yeah mine looks pretty sooty after a couple days. Can't wash it twice a week, or even once a week sometimes. Sometimes I wish I'd gone with LSM, but when CWP is clean it looks the best.

buckeye3d 01-15-2013 06:50 AM

I have a 2012 CWP and a 2 year old. I feel your pain. I only get to wash the car every few weeks at best. I just washed off a month+ of winter crud this past weekend. The rear bumper and hatch get filthy dirty. My car is coated in Optimum Opti-Coat. I use both traditional 2 bucket washes and Optimum No Rinse depending on how dirty it is. Neither will completely get rid of the discoloration near the tailpipes. If I have the time to get it completely clean I just put a bit of polish on a microfiber and it comes right off. It's annoying but it's about the only thing I don't like about the car.

AZBob 01-15-2013 01:29 PM

Holy shit guys, I wash my car like once every few months.

Try some of this stuff after you've clayed the car, etc. It'll keep it looking pretty good basically forever (the rear-end will still get sooty, though, no stopping that): Zaino Store. Zaino bonds with your paint, it's not going anywhere -- go through as many touchless car washes as you want. Initial application is a pain in the ass, but subsequent (e.g. YEARLY) are painless. Used it on numerous cars over the years; wash once every few months, always look like wet paint after washing.

kolosok17 01-15-2013 10:11 PM

I feel your pain :( Only wash it once a month or so due to constant rains...

Seeing this makes me want to see a "show us your CWP dirty hatch pictures" thread. :)

Sycoa 01-16-2013 07:40 AM

Mine would be pure black after 2 months, drive it like she's meant to be driven lol

Wash mine once a week, with all the salt on the roads it already needs a clay and wax, whole car is covered in rust dots.

I had just cleaned mine the day before you posted this. My cutouts were so black it took a good 15 minute scrubbing at each to get it off. That's what I get for bitching about it being cold and taking so long to clean it.

You could probably do the lower valence with just 1 can. I bought 2 cans but I also blacked out all 3 emblems, and I didn't have to use much from the second can. Just make sure you cover up exhaust with a plastic bag or something

http://www.youtube.com/user/DipYourCarcom
Here is the youtube channel for DipYourCar, watch some of these how-to's and you will be able to do it like a champ. They have added a lot of videos since I've been there so you will have to go through them to find good examples.

kelrog 01-16-2013 10:08 AM

yeah if you see from my first picture, i had done my mazdaspeed3 in white. wanted it to be even less noticeable when i pass people. :)

also did my a pillars in black, I can't stand looking at gray pillars.

Do you have a pic of the a pillars?

Also I forgot to mention you should also do the fog light surrounds, they look much better in black.

Yatta 01-16-2013 10:23 AM

looking at dipping my CWP valence, one of my coworkers asked me if it was a diesel, no amount of cleaning will keep it clean, 10 minutes after the car wash black dots are back :)

I have been thinking of going to vatozone and getting some 90 degree tailpipe tips and aim them down, restriction be damned, I like CWP and I like the throttle :)

yeah that's another thing i was thinking about, but the tips are spot welded on, and would require going to a muffler shop to get them put on.

I work for a dealer, so I have connections with a body shop. I've got a guy lined up to do it soon enough.
