Well after getting off their lazy arses the dealer assured me that my car will be available tomorrow for collection.
Needing advice on what to check and verify prior to driving off with my new car. So far I'm thinking visual body check, panel edges, interior, floor pan, engine fluids. Anything else come to mind? The car was a dealer collection, meaning they are picking it up from another location.
It's expected to have over 100 miles on the clock , anything over 200 and I won't sign. Thoughts ?

Drive it like a ginger. If it breaks, take it back. Check your fenders for dents. They have a PDI checklist, so everything should be in order when they hand you the keys.

Regarding break in of engine and not maintaining constant RPM. Any tips on how to achieve this when I drive approx 30 miles on a freeway ? Im thinking just shift up or down every 15 mins? to change rpm.

Typically the best break in is done by loading the engine and then letting it slow itself in gear, do this for a while and then i wouldn't worry about it after that.

Just go over it like you would a rental car before you signed the damage papers and you'll be fine, lol.

Don't get a DX'd car. I use to be the guy to drive them, and I ragged the fuck out of all of them. Didn't matter if it was a minivan, bitch was taking mad corners and WOT the whole time.

When I went to buy my car, it was still sitting on the truck when the sales guy called me. I had to wait for them to roll it off, and then take off the plastic and put the fuses and shit in so I could drive it.

I use to be a lot attendant when I was a kid, and I know exactly how all of them drive the cars; especially the performance cars. Fuck if I'd want the first 100 miles to be the car being beat the absolute fuck out of. Dude probably makes minimum wage and drives a saturn or some shit. To him a speed is like an opportunity to drive a Ferrari. He's gonna push it. Lol.

You can negotiate fairly aggressively with that mileage. So many new buyers are looking for sub 50 miles on the ODO that it's harder to sell one with mileage over 100. I was able to negotiate about 2 grand off the price because it had ~110 miles when I bought.

The deal with the dealer exchange fell through. My car is coming from another location, bonus is they told me its being trailered to them as an exchange. Won't be ready til Thursday, I will be collecting it on Friday afternoon some can see it in daylight. Fingers crossed Batty boys. :scared1:

Haha, how weird. I got a call this afternoon saying my car is still at the Port due to some complications with the Interior Lighting kit. Wont be at the dealer until Thursday afternoon. Should be available for Delivery by Friday afternoon. Crappy...

@El_Diablo, do I need to perform the personalization?, I figured the tech pack lets you do all of this via the 5.8 touch screen. Similar to what the wife has on her CX 5.

I think I'd take it rather easy until its broke in a bit. And probably change the oil after the first week or so. Its a brand new car with warranty. Follow the instructions in the owners manual regarding break in.

thats why I said a little bit, I didnt mean bounce off the rev limiter I meant give it 60% throttle up to 4k or so and see what falls apart.

Unless they've changed it from the 12's there are a few extra options to unlock that you can't get to via the screen.

Fortunately, I still have the IDS computer from when our Shop was Mazda. I can do it myself! :D

An old friend of mine at the Dealership I used to work with sent me a Txt Pic of my car going through PDI. Less then 12 hours and I will be cruising home in my 13' Damn, I cant wait! Tried to get them NOT to install the Plate Frame, but I think Sales forgot to pass the word on. Oh well, its coming right off.

You may be able to get sales to purchase you a new front grill... they're only like $60-80 retail if i remember correctly so they're probably like $40-60 actual cost.

Might be worth a shot if that was something that was stated before the fact.

Random thought, double check your tire pressures when you can, even though it was checked off on my check list the pressures were all over the place and the warning light even went off shortly after I got it.

At dealership . Got them to load it with premium gas. Setup on this nav is not like wife's. so cannot enable auto lock on exit jeez.

They are shipped with about 50 psi. I know it's been adjusted correctly though. Getting ready to drive off as we speak. But now it just started hailing. Damnit...

make sure you have them hook it up to their computer and change those settings before you leave!
