POLL: Corksport CBE vs Ultimate Racing CBE

I'm trying to decide between the two. I have done my research and I know much about the two but I'm still on the fence. So tell me which one do you think looks and sounds better??

JustanotherMS3 12-03-2011 02:48 PM

i think the UR looks better personally, and depending on what you want for sound, i think the UR is louder, as the corksport is deeper and a lttle more quiet

BMON3YZOOMIN 12-03-2011 04:14 PM

Corksport sounds better and UR looks better

Roddiy 12-03-2011 04:45 PM

I love the sound of the UR. Not that loud at all, I really expected it to be louder. It has a really nice grumble to it.

Are the exhaust tips bigger on the UR compared to the Corksport??

Jake5713 12-03-2011 06:43 PM

I have corksport wish I got UR ONLY for the titanium tips
It's the ricer in me I suppose
Corksport sounds so amazing so far
Get complements on it all the time
If you don't care about the titanium tips I would go for corksport I believe it's the loudest for gen 2

I have the CS and the other local BT has UR. I don't like the titanium tips on the UR. I think they look cheep. I like the double wall polished tips on the CS better. If you want loud you want the UR. it's louder by far.

tomek_46 12-03-2011 06:53 PM

No experience with CS but I love my UR. Seriously though, just read this thread, there's all you need to know:

chintastic 12-03-2011 06:54 PM

OBX CBE..cheaper and sounds good and looks like the UR

+1 save tons of money and then use the money to buy cnt catless downpipe. be loud as shit but powa!

m249saw 12-03-2011 07:01 PM

Love my UR. I have the resonated center pipe and its not too loud. The whole turbo back exhaust is UR and its great!

Lex 12-03-2011 07:07 PM

How long do the mufflers last in these exhausts? Usually less expensive mufflers start to sound tinny and rattle after some time as the insulation inside deteriorates. You guys notice any changes over time?

both are the same size I believe 4 in tips

That I'm not sure of. It was dark, cold outside and the guys car was dirty. It's all up to want you like and want. The UR is louder and has different tips. Like I said before I'm not into the tips. I think that CS sounds nice. The CS is deeper sounding and not as loud.

adlpb 12-03-2011 08:16 PM

I am a bit biased, but I say go towards UR if you want a deep grumble sound. It's not too loud from the cabin. With a downpipe it's even better

Mousse Penier 12-03-2011 11:07 PM

I personally think that the UR CBE looks a little better, but Corksport isn't far behind. And the mean, deep rumble gives Corksport my vote.

Speedin 12-04-2011 09:56 AM

They both look nice in my opinion. i went with the cs because i heard one in person and was sold!

here is a clip of mine

DISIindahead 12-04-2011 10:11 AM

I went with the Corksport, UR tips look rice IMO

xx5PEEDxx 12-04-2011 06:09 PM

Thanks guys for.all the input I appreciate it! I just missed the black Friday 20% sale for UR. WHICH REALLY BLOWS! If you don't mind me asking who actually installed them selves and who actually paid for install and if you paid for install, how much?

Jeremy M 12-04-2011 08:07 PM

i paid to get my installed from a local muffler shop and it was $50 bucks

stang9779 12-04-2011 08:21 PM

I did my own. It was pretty easy. Do you have a DP or are you going to be installing one?

DISIindahead 12-04-2011 08:25 PM

Installed the CS exhaust myself. VERY simple to do..first time I did it, took me less than an hour and a half.

NinjaT1985 12-04-2011 08:32 PM

I'll be running straight pipes soon, 3" all the way back with catless DP. I'll take video for people who want to hear it...

Scoobs 12-04-2011 09:15 PM

I'm going for Corksport CBE+Race pipe this summer, I think it looks better than UR. UR is made with a bunch of pre-bent pipes and all these welds at every 12" is driving me nuts.

And I don't like the titanium tips on UR, $150 for little blue and no added performance  But that is my opinion, every one has their tastes.

Sounds great, can't wait to buy this CBE!
You have CS SRI/TIP, accessport and the CS CBE...Do you have a race pipe too?

Did you monitor your fuel pressure? if yes what is your pressure at WOT? I'm asking because I'll wait this 2013 for going stage 2 and buy a catted down pipe/ fuel pump internals/ TMIC.

Installed it myself, got the UR.

Took me and a friend about 4-5 hours total, considering that this is my first time EVER installing any sort of exhaust on any car and my friend's too. It was pretty straightforward, and if we had a lift instead of doing it on jacks it would've been WAY faster.

I agree, it a lot more fun to do it your self. Beer, pizza, friends and some modding always fun. Jacks and car stands are a must or 2 ramps (if you clear).

Anyway, xx5PEEDxx, post some pictures and vids when you're done.

skeurton 12-04-2011 09:50 PM

I've actually had both exhausts on my car. I had the Corksport first. With the stock downpipe and test pipe, it was great. But once I installed the UR downpipe and CS race pipe, it got really fucking loud.

I then replaced the CS race pipe with the UR resonated test pipe and that helped a lot, but it was still kinda loud.

I eventually bought the UR catback and straight test pipe and I love it. It's still pretty loud, but definitely not as loud as it was with the CS catback.

Although, @Geo13 now has my old setup on his car now (UR DP + UR resonated TP + CS CBE) and every time I hear it, I wish I still had it.

Has your Downpipe setup ever given you a CEL???

I'm definitly getting everything at once, CBE & Racepipe. I 'm just still on the fence about the downpipe. The only thing that has me on the fence about the downpipe is the horror stories I hear about CELs. Does anyone know of a downpipe setup that has been proven not to give CELs???

Skeurton
Did you have the new CS CBE set-up or the old one with out the extra muffler? I e-mailed Derrick at CS and he told me that the new CBE with the extra muffler did drop the volume a lot. Speedin has that new set-up and it sound a lot more quiet. Your UR turbo back does sound great.

stang9779 12-04-2011 10:08 PM

I not sure of a DP that doesn't give CELs. I do know that you will need a AP if you are doing a DP. You will get boost spikes and need to tune for a DP. Get an AP long with the DP. CP-e, CNT, ATP, UR all have a good DP. Do you want a catted of catless type? there are also differnet types of DP. The long type has the race pipe belt in. the short type doesn't.

Why did you choose UR downpipe over CS downpipe if you had CS CBE if you don't me asking? I'm trying to learn as much as I can...

Not bad!

CS is coming out with a catted down pipe pretty soon. It will with the waste gate devider and it will be DP and Race pipe all in one like Cobb/CP-E. (it was posted on Facebook last week).

When did you get your CS? they changed the CBE around the begining of last summer I think. they now have two mufflers. one in the mid area and one in the back of the car. the also make the first muffler smaller so they don't have to give you the mid brace anymore.

I think he didin't get it because it wasn't catted.

Usually, CEL's have to do with whether or not you're running a catless DP. I believe the secondary O2 sensor is there to monitor the health/presence of a cat in the DP (measures difference between primary and secondary O2 readings). If it's catless, then there wouldn't be any significant difference in the O2 sensor readings and it throws a CEL. CS even states on their site that if you install their DP (which is catless), it will cause a CEL.

If you run catless, there are a few workarounds. You can turn off the CEL in ATR, use a spark plug anti-fouler for the secondary O2 sensor to keep it out of the exhaust stream, or do a search for "diode fix" (not really familiar with this one).
