Possible Lemon?

I purchased my 2012 Speed 3 coming up on a month ago next week and i've had it in the shop for the 5th time now.

It's been pulling to the left and at first didn't think nothing of it and figured the alignment was off and it was. Dealership aligned it back up (visit 1) and it still pulled.

I took it back the next week and another tech put it on the rack and put the front left tire on the right to see if it would pull right and it did so he decided it was a bad tire and they ordered me a new one (visit 2). They scheduled me for that Saturday to come in and replace the tire, so I went in and they replaced it and said it still pulled (visit 3). The thing that pissed me off most on visit 3 was they said they were to busy doing oil changes that day to work on mine so I had to reschedule another visit the following week.

Dropped it off Thursday (visit 4) and the engineer hotline said to slap it in neutral to see if it pulled and the tech said it drove straight but when in gear it started pulling again.

I'm no expert but I thought to myself possible drivetrain issues? LSD?

Next Tuesday I'm taking it back in (visit 5) and they have a regional engineer coming out to look at it. I know it's not their fault but they said there getting corporate involved so i'm hoping either they fix it if it's not a major problem or replace the car; which I would think would be the easiest thing for them to do.

Illinois lemon law I think is 4 visits for the same issue (correct me if I'm wrong)

Overall it sucks I'm having to deal with this on a new car and I was highly upset with the service dept. about sending me away on that Saturday because they were to busy.

Sorry for the life story for those who read all of this lol!

In before Firestone alignment and non shit tires fixes it. Or torque steer.

Weathamane 11-04-2012 09:12 AM

Well I don't think it's torque steer because it pulls only when barely giving it gas but i guess their is power being delivered no matter how much throttle is being applied that would "torque steer" it lol.

Thanks for the input fellas!

Raider 11-04-2012 09:14 AM

Um, if under acceleration, its torque sitter, rmm, fick the dealer. If at steady speed, alignment.

Weathamane 11-04-2012 09:22 AM

@Raider Thanks for the advice!! I just set up an appointment with Firestone for this week! Payday this friday and ordering jbr rmm.

Firestone in fl has em at least.

Weathamane 11-04-2012 09:35 AM

O yea I asked him how much it was first. I think he said $259.99. Hella worth it! I had it on my speed protege I had for 5 years. My dad works at Bridgestone plant and he's been there 37 years so around christmas every year he gets a large discount on any Bridgestone tires. Comes in handy! Or will come in handy I should say!

There is a Firestone literally 2 miles from my house. I must check this out. DP, suspension pieces, new tires. All require alignments so this will be way worth it...I think.

I have the lifetime alignments through firestone. The one here on Fort Drum gets so pissy when I bring it in, at this point I'm just getting alignments to fuck with him.

himurax13 11-09-2012 11:28 AM

OP when I had my last alignment at Firestone, the Tech there also had the same issue even though my alignment was in Spec. I believe that certain tires causes the Speed to pull to the left when you are giving it some throttle.

If you actually got some better tires, such as the star specs, I am fairly certain that problem will go away.

For me it is normal and if it bothers you that much, ease off the throttle a little.

@Weathamane; how much of a pull are we talking? Listing lazily to the left or B line for the shoulder?

Shadow 11-13-2012 07:42 AM

I don't knsow about you guys but when boost hits my car pulls straight and hard. Like a penis?:P

What kind of tires are you using?

I believe you are pulling straight cause you are on the east coast which is tilted on the right ;).

the problem with firestone lifetime alignments means you have to go deal with firestone. bring on the up sell. something else is broken, would you like us to fix it? waiting forever to get shit done. sitting in their smelly waiting rooms watching maury reruns through fuzzy reception on a 12" black and white tv.

fuck that.

leon78 11-13-2012 08:45 AM

The firestone on quantico is legit, and cheaper than any place out in town. Ive had great luck with alignments. The tech let me work through it with him b/c I was explaining what I needed done after sup. mods.
