Pothole, bent control arm...

This happened to me about 3 weeks ago. So I hit a really shitty pothole in the snow. A new control arm and Rim later I head to the dealership to pick up my ms3 and they hand me the bill, just a bit over 7,000$. I am like wtf. Wrong bill of course. So I look at it, its a gen won hydro-locked. That is the first time that I have ever seen a hydro-locked engine and I suddenly felt good about my 840$ bill...

Drove over ice and into a pond or other large body of water? There was a ton of flooding in my area when all the snow melted last week.

Even so you have to be pretty deep in some snow/water for an SRI to suck it up. I have been in 1.5 ft of water and it wasnt even close to sucking any water in. I mean hell if I was sliding toward a pond id be trying to shut the damn car off as fast as possible.

If he had a CAI instead it wouldn't take a ton of water. Just a deep slushy puddle at a spot where the nose would've been submerged and the guy decided to deep ball it instead of going around. But that still sucks balls.

Ouch! Glad the damage was nothing more and no injuries considering there was snow

Local Mazda dealer told me the only time they ever refused a warranty repair on a speed was for a hydrolock via CAI. That's one ugly bill to shave 3* off your intake temps.

This is the perfect example to give everyone that asks if modifications will void a warranty. The CAI didn't void the warranty, but the problem was caused by the CAI. If they had a stock airbox it wouldn't have hyrdrolocked (unless he was in a river.... ).

I just stared at the bill imagining all the shit he could have done to the car with that 7 grand...

A couple reasons.
1. No idea wtf I am doing and I dont have the tools. Car also needed an alignment which I wouldnt have been able to do.

2. Psoriatic arthritis is a bitch. If I did it I would be paying for it physically. Id rather pay monetarily.
