PowerFlex RMM inserts

Has anyone tried or had success installing the PowerFlex bushings for the rear motor mount bracket? They are listed as a focus ST part, but considering a focus RMM fits our cars I am curious as to if the bushings fit.

My stock bushing is torn so for ~$35 I think it's worth a shot. It's much cheaper than converting to a stage 2 CP-E mount

UPDATE:

Good news, the bushing fits perfectly! I will install it this weekend and let yall know how it feels! I went with the 'race' option.

Damond Motorsports RMM, best option out there for the price. Low NVH, solid mount, does exactly what it is supposed to.

CP-e S2 RMM is a damn close second though, very quality solid piece. Would honestly say less NVH than the DM mount, but a little more engine movement with it.

Inserts do well for the first couple thousand miles I feel, and then they get mushy too. I had CS TMM insert, and felt that after maybe 2000-2500 miles it felt just like a regular stock mount again.

He's talking about the bushing in the transmission block g00s3y. I think mine might be dead so I'm definitely interested if this aftermarket one happens to fit. However given the wide range of "applications" listed, I wonder if this kit is intended for the RMM itself.

I'm satisfied with my CP-E RMM and have no need to switch.

I'm not talking about traditional RRM inserts. I'm taking about replacement bushings for the transmission bracket that attaches to the RMM.

The replacement bushing is not for the RMM. To clarify, the bushing I am inquiring about is the purple one seen below (on an ST application).

If you do let us know if it works. I'd be interested in it also.

I've ordered a set of the 'race' inserts, and will update the thread once they arrive. Fingers crossed!

Where's the option for different bushing durometers? I definitely want to stay on the soft side. I'm guessing there will be a hefty NVH penalty with these.

On the PoweFlex American site there is a drop down menu for the street or race option.

Focus Mk3 ST (2011+) Lower Engine Mount Small Bushing

Regarding the NVH, I'm not sure how much of an increase there will be. Obviously some, but I *guess* it will mostly be tranny noise, not vibration in the cabin.

blackms3_71 09-05-2016 11:06 AM

wow I was just thinking this on my car, in for results!!

Interesting. I'm going to call them to find out about how hard they are and whether I could get away with the "street" bushings in my case. Then we could compare notes on our "upgrades".

I know my current bushing in the trans block is pretty fucked so I'm looking forward to seeing how well these work out. Hopefully the bushings don't suck, and hopefully removing the stock one isn't hard.

I am with you, I would go for a strret bushing myself.

do we have a oem mazda part number for that bracket if you just wanted a fresh one? I know with my cpe it came with one but I sold it with the mount as it only seemed right

Surprisingly cheap... Jim Ellis marks it as having a list price of $36.

texasboy21 09-05-2016 09:38 PM

You can find the brackets on ebay even cheaper used.

I installed a PowerFlex bushing in my Audi's rear diff mount and removing the stock bushing was a breeze. A few taps of a hammer with a flat head screwdriver wedged between the bracket and bushing material and it slid right out.

One thing to mention, Powerflex didnt list this busing as fitting the B6 A4 (my car). It was listed as a B7 S4 part, but I did some research and figured they were the same. Hopefully I have the same luck with the ST part. :drive:

In case you havent seen this, the link below breaks down the yellow, purple and black bushing's duro.

Race is 95, and street is 80.

How To Choose

texasboy21 09-09-2016 09:53 PM

I received the bushings today, and a used bracket from @AveryPlaysBass should be arriving early next week.

blackms3_71 09-10-2016 04:24 PM

I hope this works out. I want to change mine soon

texasboy21 09-12-2016 10:44 PM

Updated the OP - the bushing fits perfectly!

The opening on the tranny bracket is 35.9mm, and the bushing is 36.1mm. Its a snug fit, but the width and bolt diameter are identical.

Thats awesome. Let us know how it feels.

g00s3y 09-13-2016 08:24 AM

A dead platform that parts are still being made for. The people making and selling the parts just don't know it yet.

Good to hear this works out, I'll be adding this when the car gets back together.

How do you select which bushing option you want? I may be failing at the internet today, but I can't seem to find it.

What's the stock bushing difficult to remove?

That exact question was asked and answered in post 10 lol. Double face palm.

Not really, it took about half and hour. You have to wedge something between the bracket and the bushing which is glued in. Once you get the first spot, it's just a matter of working your way around both sides. Then it will slide right out.

I have not ordered any yet. I am thinking on it a bit. My guess would be the 80da "street" is stiffer than OEM, but I want to take a peak at things first.

I'm also wondering if these could be sourced elsewhere. I'll keep you posted.

Got ya. I think i may go with te street one. Should be a decent upgrade but waiting on o.p with his results.

MD1032 09-14-2016 07:16 AM

I ordered the race inserts as well since I didn't want a bushing material that was softer than the bushings in my Damond RMM bearing all that load. I'll see how they work.

texasboy21 09-16-2016 09:56 PM

Slight delay on my review. During the install of the new bracket I noticed my CP-E RMM bushing has failed. 7K miles on it, with 6K of them at stock power levels.

blackms3_71 09-21-2016 10:42 AM

send it to me, I will install it lol

My strategy when my CP-E stage 2 bushing failed was to replace it with a Damond RMM and warranty the CP-E. Next owner got (basically) a brand new mount and I got a mount that's lasted me for many times the miles I got out of the CP-E. It was a win-win for me. Ask around and determine for yourself what's best for your needs.

ThizSpeed3 09-22-2016 11:39 AM

texasboy21 09-24-2016 09:23 AM

CP-E is replacing the bushing. I should have results within the next week or so.

texasboy21 10-09-2016 08:33 AM

New thread with the install review!
