(Thread Starter) | A friend of mine told me that if I rooted my current phone (Droid 4) that I would have to manually turn on/off my bluetooth every time I got into my car. I know its a petty thing, but I enjoy having my shit automatically connect, and I had gone as far as using the Drive app to auto-load Pandora whenever it connects to the MS3. Anyone able to confirm this, or shed some light on other possible issues that may come up if I do this? I'm not really a tech savvy person, and I just want to make sure I don't fuck up any sort of communication between the phone and car.

| Not Ranked : 0 score That doesn't make sense. I have always rooted my phones (HTC One X, EVO 3D, HTC One, Moto X) and they connect to bluetooth in my car automatically. I never touch my bluetooth switch.

| Not Ranked : 0 score This, if it's rooted you'll have to choose from Stock ROM and AOKP, furthermore, there are several flavors within those two builds. My 2c, having been in the rooting game for a number of years, for a Galaxy product, go with a modded/debloated stock Variant. As much as I love AOKP, there are still too many issues and inconsistencies. Go on xda and read up on the various ROMs. Otherwise, I wouldn't suggest that rooting app previously mentioned. On XDA you'll find a "one-click" root, (I believe you'll want 4.3) and you'll use Odin to do so. This will root your device and give you SuperSu. Afterwards, download CWM, Triangle Away (paid, worth it) And a backup app, like Titanium (again, paid and worth every penny) After all that is done and you've backed up your stock image, have at it and flash whatever ROMs you'd like to test run.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Rooting by itself should not even touch your bluetooth functionality. If it does, then something else is wrong, or you did something else. All rooting does is give you "root" access (admin access) to your phone.

| Not Ranked : 0 score @helmetface; Why you say not to use that app??..... That app is the easiest and best hands down... ive been in this game since the first andorid phone came out, i been on XDA for over 5 years too Matter of fact the note 3 comes with 4.3 that has knox integrated and that one click root will not wok because of the knox.

I should have been clearer in my previous response regarding your app suggestion. I don't use it, nor will I for my own reasons, but that isn't too say it won't work or will brick a device or whatever. Just not my method.

| Not Ranked : 0 score There are a lot of methods indeed... We all choose the one we like the most nothing wrong with that... I have rooted a lot of phones with that app and so far no issues... Did bricked one once but not because of that app it was me trying to Odin the wrong md5 file..got the right one and got it going again =) Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 4

| Not Ranked : 0 score What @helmetface; said. Its all in the ROM. I'm running 4.4 kit kat on my S3 and have to manually connect to my Bluetooth. You could probably edit the build.prop and have it auto connect to last paired device. • Sent via Tapafail

| Not Ranked : 0 score The rooting of the phone doesnt affect bluetooth, the ROM/Kernel you have will. WHY? Because certain roms have powersaving features and all that, that usually has an issue with bluetooth 'waking up' persay and connecting hence the manually have to connect. Also the kernel is more of a "under the hood" type of thing where it governs the core of the phone and the more sensitive features (ie. how fast the CPU will clock itself doing certain things, which parts of the antenna are active, more core powersaving features (hence the waking up issue can also be caused by this)). Personally I have a note 3 myself, and havent had the need to root it because 1) samsung knox can fuck your shit up (atleast the canadian version) 2) the phones are fast enough that the main reason originally for Roots/Roms are no longer required IMO and 3) you can disable alot of the bloat WITHOUT Root/Roming. HOW? You go into the system/applications portion then slide to all (where you see all software installed, not just what you downloaded) and you DISABLE the stuff you dont want. It WONT uninstall it so it still takes up the space on the phone BUT it will remove the shortcuts so you cant run them, it doesnt run them by default anymore AND they dont cause the slow down and no need to root or rom. I used to be a BIG advocate of rooting/roming however not required as much anymore is what I find. There are some nice features that some ROMS have, but the stability and losing out on other features on the phone kill it for me. For instance there arent any roms, that natively use the Note 3 pen so that part of the phone is gone, some of the S Health stuff on the phone wont work as roms dont take advantage of the sensors or whatever, and stuff like that. Warranty becomes easier because all you do is copy your shit off, factory reset and thats it no worry on anything. Theres always apps that can do stuff for you, dont get me wrong, but sometimes I feel like i dont want to spend a shit ton of time downloading an app, then setting it up to only sometimes have to redo it when a newer app comes out, etc etc etc... Hope this all helps...
