I just don't want anything to mess with the tune because I love the way it runs. Any info is appreciated. | Of course it won't release enough pressure if it's too stiff. By making it stiffer or less stiff you only control the opening point as well as the progressiveness of the way that valve opens. Setting it to a softer point will NOT affect the way your BPV holds boost but will allow a better pressure excess bleeding when you reduce suddenly the acceleration or enter engine braking by completely releasing the acceleration pedal.
That is what the BPVs and the BOVs are for: to release the excess of pressure build up before and after the throttle plate. If you set them to open too late it will defeat their main purpose. A stiffer setting does NOT mean they will hold more boost, only that they will hold more pressure against a capped spinning turbo.
If you want to vent to atmosphere a 50/50 setting is the best you can get while not compromising entirely how the engine runs in low boost or idle. Get a Stratified Guardian Angel to tune that if you want full atmosphere vent. |
