R.I.P. MS3

MSF friends, yesterday my wife and I were going to get some grub for our kids, and was t boned by some jack hole running a red light. My wife and I were taken to the emergency room, and released last night with no serious health issues. I absolutely love my MS3, and this community, but couldn't imagine starting over. I had aspirations of giving the car to my son when he graduated from college as a gift, but that is out of the window. I was a downpipe (Christmas gift sitting in my garage unopened) away from being full bolted. I appreciate all of the assistance given to me from all the great guys at MSF (taking to you @rfinkle2; ) and my NATOR AZ brothers. I plan on sticking around MSF and staying active regardless of what my next car is. Thanks guys!

Ouch, sorry to see this.

Cyclops 01-02-2013 08:49 AM

That's awful. Glad you and your wife are ok.

Keko 01-02-2013 08:50 AM

Damn that fucking sucks.. good to see you didnt get any major injuries, probably pretty sore though

Do you have any general ideas what car you want next?

CWP_MS3 01-02-2013 08:51 AM

Glad to hear you're okay. So what's the next step?

ridenfish39 01-02-2013 08:53 AM

Wow, that was a bad hit. Even that tank of a truck is smashed up.
Glad everyone was ok.

rfinkle2 01-02-2013 09:00 AM

I'm glad you and your wife are OK. You know how to get a hold of me if you need anything.

SkiddishNympho 01-02-2013 09:01 AM

Glad you and your wife are alright. Sorry about your loss

Hush 01-02-2013 09:02 AM

Very sad, I just joined the NATOR AZ, and saw this posted up on fb.

Thankful you or your wife were not seriously injured, this looked like a big hit, also fortunate the impact was forward of the passenger door.

shaftyella 01-02-2013 09:02 AM

Thanks everyone. As soon as the insurance piece is taken care of I plan on getting an new Evo X or STi.

MazdaBoy2.3 01-02-2013 09:08 AM

Ouch. Glad you are ok!

Why are the guys still sitting in their truck???

adlpb 01-02-2013 09:16 AM

Glad you and your wife are ok. That looks like a pretty bad impact. You're also very lucky, a few feet back could have made a big difference.

If you're talking Evo X vs 2008+ sti, the evo is the only answer.

I was in the same boat, after much research that was the conclusion I came to.

I was going to tag you because you have been through the process but thought it might be a little early.

Shaftyella, adlpb is my buddy and is a great resource for evo info.

bstover17 01-02-2013 09:21 AM

That sucks man. Definitely looks like a hard hit.

Are you parting out the TMIC by any chance :)

Evos are such good cars I bought 2 of them. Speaking of the X (not thread jacking) are you still stock turbo with that 394awhp? What are the weaknesses of the X? Im knowledgable on the 8 and 9 but when it comes to the X....Its still just a fat piggy to me. Looking to do uicp as first mod. What was your route?

Yeah stock turbo. Could have gone over 400 with a more aggressive tune, but this is my DD.

No heavy weaknesses in stock form like the ringland issues with the sti's. The clutch is usually the first thing to go at this level. The forums don't recommend going over 400wtq on the stock engine internals. 30psi is also a good limit for the stock turbo (I'm at 27). The rear transfer case is another replacement for the BT guys.

I don't like posting this info in this thread, but hopefully it'll save the OP some time. Now back on topic...

Domino81 01-02-2013 09:39 AM

Get another, you'll be starting over regardless of the next car you buy. At least you have a parts list and prior knowledge of the platform. C'mon, man.

jack_hammer 01-02-2013 10:04 AM

damn!!!!!!!

it'll buff out?!

glad you're all ok. hopefully the guy was insured.

KusteLokal 01-02-2013 10:29 AM

Damn that sucks, glad you and your wife are ok.

Tapa-fail

TiGraySpeed6 01-02-2013 10:56 AM

Glad ya'll are alright!

At least in proper Speed fashion it appears to have given as good as it got- that truck looks to be damn near as messed up as yours.

dale_gribble 01-02-2013 11:04 AM

Glad you are ok. Some of those injuries will last a life time, so STICK it to their insurance company and/or them. My wife has auto injuries from 20+ years ago that still act up from time to time. Lawyer up, it won't cost you a dime. Stupidity should pay.

Is it weird that your poor car in that picture still looks more badass then 95% of the running cars on the road?

RedRyderBB6 01-02-2013 12:11 PM

Damn, glad you and the wife are ok. Hopefully the next car treats you well.

kmpeeps 01-02-2013 12:16 PM

Ouch! Keep your head up, as there was no major injuries. Bet you're feeling it more today

predapio 01-02-2013 12:32 PM

Damn, glad you're okay. Make sure you get yourselves checked out again. Soft tissue damage is a bitch.

Good luck.

shaftyella 01-02-2013 12:39 PM

That sucks, hope your health stays well after the shock wears off.

bertrand_CX_7 01-02-2013 02:35 PM

Glad to hear that both of you are OK. Let the insurance take care of the rest and keep us posted.

Good Luck what ever way you go bro!

PPD369Speed3 01-02-2013 02:42 PM

Wow!! Im glad you guys are ok. That is the most important thing.

I was t boned a few years ago in my Honda. Not nearly as bad as you. My girlfriend seperated her shoulder and the insurance company offered her 15000 for pain and suffering. She declined because she doesn't believe in lawsuits.

I'm glad you and yours are OK. When I lived in AZ I had never seen so many T bone accidents. The way the lights are timed and the lack of left turn lights was crazy. Of course this does nothing for a red light runner.

Sad to see another gorgeous pu put down.

Be well,

G

boostdmazda3 01-02-2013 03:00 PM

atleast you and your family are ok thats the most important thing.

dsb_chicago 01-02-2013 03:07 PM

And some things may be salvageable, like the AP.

Edit: I didn't see page two pics before post. Maybe only the AP is salvageable. Glad you're ok. That looks pretty heinous.

Glad you're ok. Was the person driving the truck drunk or just dumbass? That rocker trim looks straight as hell must have just popped off.

KyleMS32010 01-02-2013 06:48 PM

Glad you guys are ok, cars can always be replaced but it does suck.

Mclovin80 01-02-2013 06:55 PM

Glad to see the side airbags worked. That truck is all messed up.

Just your typical Tucson driver. Worst drivers I've ever seen in my life!
