R.I.P. MS3
 

MSF friends, yesterday my wife and I were going to get some grub for our kids, and was t boned by some jack hole running a red light. My wife and I were taken to the emergency room, and released last night with no serious health issues. I absolutely love my MS3, and this community, but couldn't imagine starting over. I had aspirations of giving the car to my son when he graduated from college as a gift, but that is out of the window. I was a downpipe (Christmas gift sitting in my garage unopened) away from being full bolted. I appreciate all of the assistance given to me from all the great guys at MSF (taking to you @rfinkle2; ) and my NATOR AZ brothers. I plan on sticking around MSF and staying active regardless of what my next car is. Thanks guys!

Thankful you or your wife were not seriously injured, this looked like a big hit, also fortunate the impact was forward of the passenger door.

Glad you and your wife are ok. That looks like a pretty bad impact. You're also very lucky, a few feet back could have made a big difference.

If you're talking Evo X vs 2008+ sti, the evo is the only answer.

I was in the same boat, after much research that was the conclusion I came to.

I was going to tag you because you have been through the process but thought it might be a little early.

Shaftyella, adlpb is my buddy and is a great resource for evo info.

Evos are such good cars I bought 2 of them. Speaking of the X (not thread jacking) are you still stock turbo with that 394awhp? What are the weaknesses of the X? Im knowledgable on the 8 and 9 but when it comes to the X....Its still just a fat piggy to me. Looking to do uicp as first mod. What was your route?

Yeah stock turbo. Could have gone over 400 with a more aggressive tune, but this is my DD.

No heavy weaknesses in stock form like the ringland issues with the sti's. The clutch is usually the first thing to go at this level. The forums don't recommend going over 400wtq on the stock engine internals. 30psi is also a good limit for the stock turbo (I'm at 27). The rear transfer case is another replacement for the BT guys.

I don't like posting this info in this thread, but hopefully it'll save the OP some time. Now back on topic...

Get another, you'll be starting over regardless of the next car you buy. At least you have a parts list and prior knowledge of the platform. C'mon, man.

At least in proper Speed fashion it appears to have given as good as it got- that truck looks to be damn near as messed up as yours.

Glad you are ok. Some of those injuries will last a life time, so STICK it to their insurance company and/or them. My wife has auto injuries from 20+ years ago that still act up from time to time. Lawyer up, it won't cost you a dime. Stupidity should pay.

Is it weird that your poor car in that picture still looks more badass then 95% of the running cars on the road?

That sucks, hope your health stays well after the shock wears off.

I was t boned a few years ago in my Honda. Not nearly as bad as you. My girlfriend seperated her shoulder and the insurance company offered her 15000 for pain and suffering. She declined because she doesn't believe in lawsuits.

I'm glad you and yours are OK. When I lived in AZ I had never seen so many T bone accidents. The way the lights are timed and the lack of left turn lights was crazy. Of course this does nothing for a red light runner.

Glad you're ok. Was the person driving the truck drunk or just dumbass? That rocker trim looks straight as hell must have just popped off.

Glad you guys are ok, cars can always be replaced but it does suck.
