Really annoying tire noise at 25-30 mph

Hey guys I'm new here as of today and had a couple questions/concerns. I just bought a used 10 MS3 with 45,KKK on it and it has new tires on it. Good ride SV308's to be exact. While going 25-30 mph with Windows down there is a constant like whooshing sound every time the tire goes around. But when I let off the gas the noise goes away, get on the gas it cones back. There's no noise going 40-45, but there is a slight steering wheel vibration going 70 on the highway. I've never even heard of these tires until I bought the car. I contacted the dealer and am waiting for a response. Anyone heard of these tires before???

A Chinese company. it floors me how people buy the cheapest tires they can find for their high performance cars. When I got mine, it had some Federal POS tires that were literally falling apart. the tire shop wouldn't even rotate them because they were separating. all 4 of them.

Yeah what's even worse is the dealer put them on. So now I'm up their ass about it. At first I thought they said good year I didn't look that close. If I'm spending that much money on a performance car like you said I don't expect to have to call and bitch to the service manager already about a stupid tire noise.

Good ride, haha I thought that was a autocorrect/typo for Good Year... Yeah man shitty tires are loud as fawk!

Goodride? LMFAO!! Should buy a Cob AccessPART and a pair of Ockley sunglasses too.

Let us know how it turns out with the service manager.

On a serious note, if it were the tires I'd think it would be constant, regardless of whether you were on the throttle or not. Does it only happen at 25-30 MPH? Does it matter which gear you are in? I quickly searched for some reviews on this tire and from what I've seen, people actually rated them okay.

That's a good one lol. Its actually constant, no matter what gear and it gets worse as speed increases. Cruising at 40 I'll push the clutch in and you can still hear it and feel it in the steering wheel. I dropped out off this morning I went for a drive with a tech and he thinks its the cheap tires or one tire may have thrown a weight. So I'll be expecting a call sometime today. I'll post when I hear back from the service manager! Thanks for the input fellas!!

Now that you've explained a bit more, it does sound like the tires. I'll be sure to avoid those fuckers. Lol

Yeah, definitely let us know how it turns out.

So they called me back already haven't talked to the service manager but the service advisor said that all the tires were in balance, alignment is all within specs. He confirmed there is a slight shimmy in the wheel and there is a tire noise but it meets Mazda's specs. This is bullshit there's no spec saying there's an acceptable amount of tire noise and wheel shimmu/vibration.

i know this is an odd question but, how full is your coolant overflow tank?

Whether its Goodyear oops I mean Good Light, Fullrun's or Federals you're gonna have some tire noise at higher RPMS. Mine (Fullrun?) seemed to get worse over time and @leeroy38; who has the federals gets some pretty loud tire noise as well.

I ponied up the dough for decent Potenza's and no more tire noise.. Just my 2 cents anywhoo!

Edit: I also am interested in the status of said coolant overflow tank...

leeroy38 04-24-2014 11:13 AM

Yea my federals do alright but they are loud as shit an annoying. I'm just going to pull the trigger soon an buy some good tires.

Well it sounds like I'm just gonna have to get used to it then lol. Chances are the dealer won't do shit about them. I'm hoping as they wear it wont be as loud. I'm gonna rotate them every oil change lol

leeroy38 04-24-2014 11:24 AM

Na it'll still be loud bro just ride on them until you can afford some new ones bro. Or if you buy new rims get new tires when you do whichever comes first.

Maybe you should try doing a massive burnout to see if you can wear down the imperfections. :hahaha:

manila 04-24-2014 12:34 PM

This gives you a reason to roast through 1-3 at every stop light with occassional burnouts in open parking lots

Hahaha what's funny is the porter was talking to the tech who drove it and he was saying he was gonna roast the tires a couple times to wear em in but he told the porter to tell me that. I thought that was funny! I'm still waiting to hear back from the service manager so we'll see what he has to say.

ihasmazda 04-24-2014 01:34 PM

It may actually be true. Some tires need a break-in period to quiet down.
