Rear passenger tail light out Hello everyone! I recently purchased a 2012 Mazda3, 22 days outside the warranty, my rear passenger tail light went out. No big, replaced the bulb - no luck. swapped the entire connector to the driver side to confirmed it was good. To my understanding, the 2012 doesn't have a flasher relay, but is controlled by the BCM. I did some Googling, but haven't found were it is mounted at. My first thought would be to check that the connector is firmly mounted. Now for the past few weeks, every now and then, it would go out when I'd go over a bump, which leads me to think loose connector. Next to that, what else should I look at? I'd rather not spend the money on a new BCM, but will if needed. Thank you! |
Can't tell for sure based on what you said if you already tried this but, check the prongs on the inside of the socket. They might need bent to put more pressure on the bulb. |
I took it to a friend who used to be a mechanic. We manually grounded it to see if it was a grounding issue. We also found out that the reverse lights are not working. Due to the tint on my car, I didn't know that before today. We checked the fuses, and swapped the relays, but without luck.... Any thoughts? |
Googled 2012 Mazda 3 wiring diagram and had a ton of leads pull up. You really need to look into getting that wiring diagram. eBay may have it. You need to find the main fuse panel and look for relays nearby. Generally there are a lot of relays for turn signals and the like and they may be with the brake light relay. So up under the dash you go! |
