Recirculation sound after letting off gas is gone!

So I'm running an Sri+tip (corksport) with a Cobb xle running 50/50 and (rmm, springs, rsb, etc.)

After the tip install I haven't heard my Sri pressured air recirculate back....even running hybrid mode on my bov I don't hear shit......yes I know its fuken rice but I'm not worried about that, my concern is if its safe I'm saving up for an AP so that's coming but currently I have no idea what's going on and why it doesn't sound off whatsoever

Thanks in advance.

You obviously fucked something up on the install if you're not hearing it recirculate. Check all your hoses and make sure they're all tight, make sure you haz the correct spring installed, etc.

Got it really cheap, I'm actually halfway on getting the AP but this recirc thing has been happening ever since I had the SURE SRI n TIP then sold it to get the corksport but its the same....

SWAY 09-25-2011 11:34 PM

check and see if you have a boost leak after checking all the hoses

So I checked everything (hoses, filter, bov etc) and still nothing no leaks no tears.....

Any suggestions? Let me ask this, when you guys installed the turbo inlet pipe did it take the sound aways???

EdgeAutosport.com 09-27-2011 04:04 PM

installing the tip should make it louder especially if its the cs one

Fuken weird man this shit is starting to piss me off lol

EdgeAutosport.com 09-27-2011 04:12 PM

sounds like a vacuum hose is disconnected or torn and not allowing the bpv to function correctly.

wankular 09-27-2011 04:22 PM

Sometimes the hose going to the manifold gets kinked or splits from rubbing against the hood or the radiator support.

rghispanic88 09-27-2011 04:29 PM

remove your BPV and give it to me. problem solved

Noon question-can you give me an idea of where that hose is? Is it the one where it connects to the underside of the tip?

Stealth01 09-27-2011 04:34 PM

Put the stock BPV back on. See if that helps. If not, you have a leak somewhere.

What was your reason from going from the aeros and sidewinder to the corksport combo? Did you think it might fix your recirc issue?

ASHMS3 09-28-2011 06:35 AM

I think you have to lube the internals of that thing every so often, make sure its not stuck.

The Sidewinder was rubbing against the side of the battery box(Ecu) to the point where the silicone was degrading ..... creating a hole....

What thing? The bov? I have multispray from my previous TS so I'm not worried

ASHMS3 09-28-2011 10:04 AM

Cool man, I was just throwing an idea out there.

rfinkle2 09-28-2011 10:18 AM

The XLE seems to need re-lubing more often.

Mine was actually stuck closed brand new.

Cobb recommends ARP Ultra-Torque
Fastener Assembly Lubricant, P/N 100-9911

EDIT: looks as if it was a hole. Cobb does recommend frequent relubrication.

Jashw311 is 100% correct. Your bov is likely stuck closed.

Yeah I lubed it with the instructions that came with it when I have the car in idle I have a friend push the gas to see if the piston moves and it does.... that proves that its not stuck right?

Even with the stock bpv there's no sound, I had a forge v1 and there's no ninja clashing

You should be able to push the piston down with your thumb.

You could try decreasing the pre-tension, although it sounds as if you have another issue.

If none of the bpv's are making any sound, it must be one of the above suggestions.

djthom 09-28-2011 10:29 AM

is your tip securely connected to the turbo?

rfinkle2 09-28-2011 10:32 AM

If you are building boost, you should hear the air escaping from somewhere, or hear another noise called "surge".

Do you have any other strange issues that resulted after your install?

SRTie4k 09-28-2011 11:17 AM

Does the Cobb XLE partial dump to atmosphere in hybrid mode? If it does, you should put your hand in front of the outlet and have a friend rev the engine to see if you can feel air dumping out.

If you still can't, you probably have a big leak somewhere after the turbo (between TMIC/FMIC and TB), although you'd get idle issues if you had a big leak.

If that isn't the issue, it's remotely possible your turbo is dead and either isn't spinning or isn't compressing any air at all.

I do hear the air getting sucked in by the intake but after I let off the gas I don't hear nothing...

Everything else is fine I feel the boost building and I don't hear any surges or feel...

I did feel partial of the air against my hand wwhen I had the bov tested....

How would I know if the Turbo is not compressing air? But then I wouldn't be getting boost in the first place right?

Damn that sucks, did you take this up with the peeps at Sure?

dooderek 09-28-2011 12:54 PM

If your surging then you will hear it, sounds like mini sneezes. If you don't hear shit than that's something else entirely. Obv if he had a vacuum leak car would run like shit. If you have a boost leak is a possiblty but you should still hear it recirc. check the bpv gasket, go buy a bike pump, see what pressure it'll take for it to open. If you need a walkthrough on what to do pm me.

chintastic 09-28-2011 12:57 PM

wow...same exact thing happened to me lol...i have the cpe nano and an hks ssqv recirculated...and you can really hear it flutter....then I installed a corksport tip and the sound drastically got quiet....u can barely hear it....i have no clue why this is

Ill do that but right now my car is at the shop getting shocks replaced and spring from teins to corksports

But ill for sure pm you and hopefully you can help me with that

aanguia1 09-28-2011 09:16 PM

Okay so I solved the problem.....

I fooled everything off again and reinstalled it while putting everything back in I noticed there was a kink in the recirc hose and was being bent by the intake because of the angle I had it on..... I cut some of the hose to shorten it and changed the angle of the intake...... problem solved now I'm gonna go easy on the pu till the ecu can catch the air/fuel trims again and see if the bov gets louder lol jk
