I'm looking to get a little more sound from my exhaust without spending 1k I've listened to a few resignator delete sound clips and I like it!:tongue:
I'm not going to mod anytime soon, is this going to require a fp upgrade???

hmmmm.....today, I'll be nice.

The resonator, is only there to quiet down the exhaust, and for no other reason. Removing this will not require any other mods.

But, I'll sit back and watch this one lol.

Is the the resignator bolted on or welded??? Not trying to be lazy here but I broke my foot a couple days ago, so its a little difficult! Lol

It is welded in.

The resonator is a part of the exhaust piping. It will need to be cut out. Go to a reputable muffler shop and have it done. Had mine done and it cost me all of $15. Shop around.

Think of it like a tuning fork or the bell of a horn. Just adjusts the sound.

LOL, I don't think a search for a "resignator" would have returned good results. RESONATOR is the word your looking for. And yeah, you can have any muffler shop cut it out and replace it with straight pipe. The resignator is the block window mod, where your motor resigns from it's position as properly functioning.

And for what it is worth, reso delete, while posted ad nauseum in multiple threads here, is, to me a ricer mod. No power gain whatsoever by deleting them and just more loud. Loud does not = powerful. And loud four bangers sound more like farm tractors than anything else.

The most potent cars you can purchase at any price typically have amazingly quiet exhausts, even under full throttle due to proper use of . . . resonators.

One could have also looked under the car..damn youre lazy!

Arguably the most successful aftermarket muffler company is magnaflow and their exhausts are significantly louder than stock. Powerful cars are loud. Look at dragsters. Generally speaking, people interested in a powerful car like loud exhausts and the associations they have with the power. I.e. racecars

Furthermore a full exhaust for our cars costs hundreds of dollars. The performance gains are marginal at best. So, the primary purpose is the sound. For $15, you can get a "better" sound versus spending hundreds. You say ricer, I say cheaper.

That's pretty fucking cheap. Mieneke round my way told me its a custom job, and 120 bucks. I laughed in his stupid ass face. Cheapest I've heard around here is 60.

Surprised no one has said it yet. But to have a noticeable sound difference you're going to need a race/test pipe or downpipe. If you just cut out the resonator you won't hear a whole lot.

And if you go the downpipe route, you need fuel pump internals.

Dude you need to look into getting a race test pipe. then while you under there cut out the resonator and put in straight pipe.

I ADDED a redo! No power loss at all. If you ever go 3 inch catless dp/rp as I did, you will learn what loud and droning is like. Reso add as in my sig killed the drone and I can enjoy the huge power bump of a good catless dp and rp.

Btw the WOT in cabin noise level of 550 horse Lambroghinis, Porsche 911 turbos, Nissan GT-R, etc. is not significantly more than a STOCK MS3, all well under 90 db.

We are not driving top fuel dragsters with individual exhaust header pipes for each cylinder and belching nitromethane flames.

Short of that, loud is not power. Enjoy more noise if you like that. My Kubota 5 cylinder diesel farm tractor at WOT sounds obnoxious but better than an open piped four banger. Just slap a fart can on the end and a Honda label and you are set.

My buddy's old 87 rx-7 with a 4" titanium exhaust was the worst sounding car I've ever been in. after about a minute I was nearly deaf and ready to jump out.

I also paid $35 for a res delete. Sounds a little deeper and pops from time to time, by the feel of the car i prolly gained 30+hp w/ this mod

I considered deleting my resonators for about a half second until I remembered it just makes it louder and doesn't add any power so it is therefore rice and I'm not a stupid ricer.

I'm going to add 4 more resignators to my set up

Why don't you go with a test pipe instead? It adds a nice rumble, a few horsepower and isn't a complete waste of time and money.

How do you test a pipe??? What is this process your talking about?

Got my res deleted for 40 bucks.. Didn't really change the sound much imo.. Adding a testpipe added a good rumble and throaty tone combined with the res delete.
