Review of Wedge Engineering Seat Brackets I was looking for a bucket seat since I got pretty tired of bracing myself on the door panel on the track so did some research and found a main thread that went on about resistors and what not. But they had also mentioned Wedge brackets. OP there said they worked great and I had heard of them a few times before. So screw it, got my seat, got my side mounts, and went ahead and ordered my brackets with sliders. Wedge emails me a day or two later. Says I need to give them the measurements of the holes in my side mount. Cool, I measured it and sent them the numbers on a template they had. Wait the 3 weeks or so for them to make it and send it out. Get it in the mail and finally open this guy up. Picked up the bracket and this thing looked pretty good. Nice powder coat, pretty beefy. Dig around some more and start to panic. I find a baggie of bolts (more on this later) and toss them aside for now. Where the hell are my sliders?! Alright, mistakes happen...so I email them very politely and the rep responds that they'll be out today. I get the sliders in and they look pretty decent. Go to make sure I have everything and turns out they didn't send me bolts for the sliders either, and the bolts in that little baggie I talked about earlier, weren't enough to get the sliders on. Upon closer inspection of the bolts I notice they're grade 5 bolts. It might just be me being paranoid but for something that holds my seat in I would have certainly appreciated something stronger, so I went out and got grade 8 fasteners for the bracket, and sliders. Go to install the seat and everything works great. Fast forward a few weeks and now the two parallel pieces of the slider have some play in them and wiggle back and forth, so under certain conditions my seat will move mid corner. I also noticed the bottom of the slider now makes contact with the bracket and now grinds against it so badly I cannot use the full range of the slider. After this experience I would NOT buy brackets from wedge engineering. I would only get say you get them if they were your only option for whatever reason, and you had a lot of time before you needed the seat in and will do a direct bolt in (no sliders). I feel like if I went that route everything would have worked out smoothly since the bolt grades are annoying, but not totally a deal beaker. This is my personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt. Your experience may be different, but at this point I wouldn't be comfortable recommending them wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a similar set up. Thanks for reading! |
Did you contact the company after the brackets started having play in them? Do these not come with any warranty of any kind? |

I ended up using Sparco's slider brackets, they work fantastic w/ Planted Technology bracket for the floor. No issues after some track time. |
