Road track in south ga/north FL
 

Anyone from south GA or north FL know of a road track in the area? I am looking for a place to track the speed every now and again and the closest one I can find anything on is Atlanta and that is a little farther than I am looking to go. There is a drag strip close to me, but I was in Germany for 3 years so driving fast in a straight line is kind of boring for me. I am in Valdosta, GA as a point of reference. Thanks everyone.

You check the SCCA website for autocross near you?

i did a while back and didn't find anything bt I will try again. Thanks, I don't know why I always forget about AutoX.

I was pretty active in the Buccaneer Region SCCA chapter when I lived in Jacksonville for a couple of years...they have monthly events all over North FL and Southern GA:

Sebring International Raceway A bit of a drive though from wild adventures, i mean Valdosta lol.

gainesville has a road course.

Pretty sure you really can't rent any time there.

I think I will have to get check that place out some time.

sure you can. and there are frequent HPDE's.

scca has events at tallahassee airport... lots of fags in miatas <3. But thats cones on the tarmac... if that'll scratch your itch.

if you've never been there it's a pretty neat track - nothing too exciting in terms of elevation changes and it's not a very technical track but i think it's a lot of fun

Shit, I had no idea. I've run my other car at a few tracks up north. Now that I'm down south I'd like to try that track. I hear it's tuff and fast to drive. I'm going to the 12 Hours there this year as well. Especially since it is now part of the new FIA World Endurance Championship. (They are trying to bring back the glory of the old World Sportscar Championship)

Yeah what appeared on the tracks website, but none the less I'm sure I would enjoy myself there.

Sebring is an awesome track. It is fast, but it's also very harsh. Not the smoothest track around, haha.

@cshunter the front stretch is pretty cool - you can get a good bit of speed before going into turn one

lol I was gonna say sure you can rent it, but chimmike beat me to it lol. All it takes it enough cash. But since we all have Mazda's and not high end European super cars its probably out of the question unless you do a sponsored event, like corvette club or something.

A friend of mines dad would travel around with his corvette to these club meets at race tracks around the country. Whenever they were close enough to home, he would bring his type R integra and his dad would get him some track time. He drove at sebring a couple of times. I was always so envious, my dad owns a restaurant and drives an expedition lol.
