Rookie mistake...

So it's been about a week after I installed my CS SRI and everything has been going well up until about 15mins ago. All my lights on my dash started flashing and it restricted boost. same thing happened to me, where it cut into the ecu harness? car died mid turn up a hill. had to wave everywhere back so i could roll down into the parking lot behind me. Hit the injector wire and shorted it causing the fuse to blow in the fuse box. Used the radio fuse in place, started right up

Why is CS responsible for every cable and line that is in the vicinity of its SRI?

Edit - Your last sentence clears my confusion - But the title did imply CS was the fail.

Good lesson, everything in the bay moves and vibrates - strap it down or hold it clear of sharp edges.

I guess I should have said install fail, I don't blame CS at all. I'm guessing ill have to pull the intake and carefully repair the wires put the clamps back on in a way where they won't rub and hopefully I didn't ruin anything

Apparently you did not take some of the first advice given on this forum READ. Had you done that you would of known of this possibility. Surely you are not serious about driving it. Get some tape and or solder or connectors and fix that shit. Live and learn Huh?

Inspect the harness as stated above repair if necessary. A few things in the tool kit should be a test light, or DVM,liquid electrical tape,rescue tape,butt connectors and assorted fuses. Keep us posted on progress.

Check the out the wires carefully which took the damage. If there they are pretty torn up cut the wire and make a new connection if you can with solder and good heat shrink. You need to make sure the repairs are sealed well to prevent anything from coming up in the future.

Also, it might be obvious, but disconnect (and possibly remove) your car battery while repairs are being done, even if your careful its easy to do really stupid things near a car battery (trust me...).

I thankfully noticed the hose clamp rubbing against the wires after a week when I installed my Cobb SRI and avoided this problem

The repair seemed to go well and everything is working now. I am concerned that this will be a problem in the future, so I guess I will look into ways to insulate the wiring. Just do what I did. Look at the pic I posted before. It is a $4 rubber brake pedal pad and a zip tie. I have not had any issues and its a cheap effective way to not have to worry anymore.

When I installed mine I made sure the band was as far away from the harness as possible because I read it was a problm here but, it would be easy to install the SRI with the clamp next to the ECU wires, live , learn, read, donate.

I read about it and thats why I did what I did the same day I installed my TIP and SRI.

dang dude that sucks, glad it wasnt a lot worse. i caught my cobb sri clamp before it got through the tape so no its not just cs. i think all the manufactures should add a piece in the instructions warning about this.

Thanks for the post dude, when I did my install I tried to avoid this, but seeing this got me thinking. Went out to check my handy work and sure enough one of the clamp screws were close enough to fray the tape a little...took off the intake and cut off the extra screw with the trusty dremel and rotated the clamp a little.

There is a note in our instructions telling people this.
