Stopped by autozone to pick up a set of inverted torx bits and they have on sale till the end of the month rotella t6 for $19.99 a gal. Cheaper than Walmart.

Thanks good to know. But unless im being dense thats still a decent difference in price. Autozone 19.99 gallon.....2 gallons would be 40.00. Amazon 1.5 gallon for 42.

on a different note, I went to the only local autozone near me, and they don't carry T6. So I went and checked Advance Auto and they had it on sale too, but for $24/gal.

there is a thread on the forum about this and one member ran pp and rt6 and the rt6 heald up better than the pp so you could run a long intervolve before changes.

Thank you. Don't really know the difference between 5w30 and 5w40, but if you guys think it's all good, then I'll go ahead to try it.

And I only drive like 7k miles per year, so I always try to put the best stuff for my car.

I think what you're linking to is the conventional version - Rotella T.

The synthetic one is Rotella T6. That's the one for 20 bucks.

I live in IL and Meijer grocery stores has it for 19.99 a gallon, and the local (maybe international price) Mernards has rotella T6 for 19.97 a gallon.

Am I wrong but technically, doesnt rotella T6 void the warranty, for those under warranty? I dont think mazda will care about the difference in weight but the diesel oil, etc.

I come from a family of VW's where if oil didnt meet VW 502 spec it voided warranties.

hmm, I think you're wrong. From the manual:

Only use oils “Certified For Gasoline Engines” by the American Petroleum Institute (API). An oil with this trademark symbol conforms to the current engine and emission system protection standards and fuel economy requirements of the International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC),comprised of U.S. and Japanese automobile manufacturers

Rotella T6 does not have this standard. If you are under warranty and decide to do your own oil changes with T6 and have the receipts, Mazda can, legally, deny engine work due to incorrect oil usage.

I'm not arguing against T6, I know its better than PP or any other, but I'm just pointing out to those with a warranty, the use of T6 can be grounds to void the warranty. I plan on using PP5w30 until I'm out of warranty, then T6 all the way.

My 2 cents.

Saw it @ NAPA for $15.99 a Gal, but it was 15w-40, guessing we don't want 15w in our engines...

then don't use it, no one has a gun to your head. but i highly doubt they would void your warranty over it.
