Default Rpm to boost

Alright guys so since I keep seeing different numbers, il throw this out there. What rpm is ideal to boost at without hurting the motor. I keep hearing 2500-3000rpm. I personally rather not under 3k tho.

Don't go WOT under 3k.
Don't got WOT in 6th, or under 3k in 2-5th.
Don't go WOT if your knocking.

Building boost at partial throttle is fine, just don't go nuts under 3k.

Most people change their idle speeds to around 1500rpm, to help with brake-boosting, and then really ramp up WGDC and throttle DBW so that full boost is available around 1875rpm, and doesn't really drop off until around 7250rpm.

Yup, I also take 3k as the minimum.
5th and 6th gear I wait at least to 3,5-4k before putting it to the floor

2500rpm ONLY if your tune allow this by giving you about 7psi at that range .

So on a stock car thats a big no no as your tempting fate imo .

And again, I recommend the use of proper spelling and grammar, but most importantly, the use of the search function. Your questions, to date, have all been answered many, many times. You'll get a lot farther here if you do a little bit of legwork on your own before re-asking stupid questions.

Look man, just don't repeatedly romp on the motherfucker in 6th at 2k rpms and you'll be fine. Take care of the car and it will probably take care of you. Shit happens, but don't be scared of the car. If it's acting like it doesn't like something, like shaking because you're boosting in a high gear, low rpm situation. Then don't fucking do it. I'm not trying to be a dick, but goddammit how many times must we cover this shit.

Building boost at partial throttle is fine, just don't go nuts under 3k.
I was searching for this for the past hour. I was worried that me boosting under 3k with partial throttle would be bad.

Its not bad to boost under 3k as long as I'm not going WOT?

I bent my rod at partial throttle under 3k rpms. On the highway in 6th, and went to speed up just a little, trying to get good gas mileage... Don't know what the actual boost was, but the mod's I had done allowed the engine to build too much torque. The real answer depends on what you've done to you car.

If you've freed up the air any, you have to be more careful. The K04 will make lots of boost low, and the Mazda ECU advances timing for fuel economy, a deadly combination.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I feel that these rules, which are no doubt well established, are geared towards bolted vehicles. My car's still stock (I just got it) and I don't get huge boost spikes or any of that fun stuff the bolted guys get. I understand that the ECU advances timing on the highway and doesn't retard it as fast as you can mash the gas pedal to the floor. Even with the stock tune, I occasionally get the characteristic 0.2-0.4 KR on initial tip-in. I still don't go WOT below 3k RPM's, but I've floored it for extended periods in 6th gear during a couple high speed runs (by the way, this is the only way to break ~110 MPH anyway) with no ill effects (note that I still drop the car to 5th to pass, again, to keep RPM's high). Would I do this if I was bolted and pushing out 50 more ft-lbs of torque than stock? No...but to some degree you really have to trust that some of the engineers at Mazda did their jobs. This vehicle has the ability to retard boost and timing based on which gear you're in, and it's my belief that Mazda would have done so for 6th gear if this was truly an issue. Furthermore it's my suspicion that with a conservative tune that doesn't have insane torque, it would also be safe to do this.

You can find hundreds of videos of people doing shit like this on Youtube with stock MS3's and none of them blew up. I wouldn't do it every day, but I don't feel guilty about doing it on the conservative stock tune, either.

I still wouldn't do it. The theory behind not doing this is that our vehicles have very substantial torque at low RPM's, more than a Subaru STI. Each individual detonation carries significantly more force than you'd think, and at low RPM's, there are two risks: 1) that there isn't enough oil pressure and the force of the rod will break through the oil film and contact the bearing and 2) That you have a boost spike or predetonation, again, that would cause the force of the rod to break through the oil film and contact the bearing OR just outright bend as stated above.
