Pisses me off.. it appears that the new touchscreen head unit is STANDARD on all the Mazda 3 Grand Touring trims!!!

Not true, although the rims can be affected by high heat the process of powder coating doesn't get hot enough to damage your wheels. Now you get some novice doing your wheels maybe but any reputable shop it should be no problem.
As far as the 2013 goes I remember in 2010 everybody all butt hurt cause the rear was the same color, even one guy crying about how after he washed and dryed his car, on the drive home the water he missed spotted up his car. Shut up already, you got a great fast, fast car for under 30,000. Quit your whining already, geez.
