seafoam safe????

so i keep arguing with a couple buddy's about seafoaming my car kuz my car is turbo, and that itl ruin my turbo, so can someone clear this up???

Ozynigma 08-17-2014 09:40 PM

Where are you putting the seafoam in? It may not go anywhere near the turbo. The whole issue of whether it works or not I will leave to others.

aaronc7 08-17-2014 09:41 PM

What about having a turbo makes you or your friend think it's not safe?

mazdaspeed333 08-17-2014 09:45 PM

1/3 in the oil,gas,vacuum line

and i personally think its safe.. ive used it a bunch on my cobra before my speed and its been great. my speed has 27k now so i dont see a point in using atm but for the future.

Vansquish 08-17-2014 09:52 PM

Goddamnit! For the love of all that is oily, READ, you ninny, READ!!!!

Seafoam basically does fuck-all on these cars. You have to get in there with dental tools and clean the valves by hand.

mazdaspeed333 08-17-2014 09:54 PM

lol:spankme:

mazdaspeed333 08-18-2014 10:56 AM

it supposibly will blow my turbo, over pressurize my engine and damage sensors, this inst coming from me its from a friend who will swear it will happen

DVM17 08-18-2014 11:05 AM

it'll do its thing. puff smoke and what not, but it won't do shit on our cars.

jack_hammer 08-18-2014 11:06 AM

so i put in a bird feeder in my back yard. it's pretty cool. i like to see birds come and eat. but, at first the birds weren't coming to eat. i bought the cheapest food i could buy and i guess they are picky. so i bought some expensive ass cardinal bird seed.

so i didn't waste the other food, i mixed the cardinal feed (mostly just sunflower seeds) with the cheap stuff.

now, i get lots of cardinals (aka red birds) trying to eat. but when they are trying to get down on some sunflower seeds, the blue jays will come in and run off everyone. then the blue jays fight with each other over the food. when they get full, sometimes the cardinals come back. every now and then, i'll see some sort of finch come and get some food.

these are not my pictures. they're just pics of the birds from the internet.

I tried it for the hell of it when I was planning on cleaning my valves anyway...ran it through, waited a day, then pulled manifold off....:ouch:waste of money. Dedicate a saturday to tearing it all down and cleaning it out. I went the cheap way and used B-12 chemtool, 2-way fluid pump and shotgun cleaning kit. Did wonders..

Sea foam cleans the valves inside the combustion chamber. Not on the valve steam. I don't think they make any claims about cleaning the steam. All the magic happens inside the combustion chamber.

ALPINEST4RS 08-18-2014 03:35 PM

I've ran into a few cases where they knock out converters. Other than that, no biggie. ;)

FYI, if you seafoam and run through the throttlebody (mist), be sure to have rpms at 1500ish.

To be safer than safe, just run it through the gas tank. Not the whole bottle, but 1/3 like mazdaspeed333 said.

In my opinion, fuck seafoam. It works as a great carb cleaner. Thats about it.

SaveMelMac 08-18-2014 04:54 PM

seafoams directions does say to disconnect any cat converters if you choose to run it down a vac. line. A larger piece of carbon could break off and take out a converter. Does any one do this, no. i never have.
Seafoam dos work to help lower NOX on higher mileage to clean out carbon build up in the combustion chamber

While I agree, the best way is to keep the oil changed and run a decent fuel treatment.

Agree, seafoam doesn't take the place of routine maintenance.

I reiterate, yet again: learn to communicate moderately intelligently, and you'll get a lot farther with a lot less flak.

Once again, I'm not your brother. Also, I honestly, truly, and with all my heart give three shits about your grammar. I'm worried about you, gaylord. Where did you learn English?

"bro" we are not trolling you. You sir are the troll! You are posting pointless shit or threads that have been discussed many times.

Learn to fucking search! This shit is getting annoying. Stop posting pointless threads.
