Seafoam Spray through Throttle body As title suggests. Saw a video of this guy that hooked up a nozzle/straw and clamped it down on the hose that's attached to the throttle body of his car and sprayed seafoam through it, and then stalled it by spraying full blast until the car died. Has anyone done this and is it as effective as going through the brake booster? I've done 2 cans in the gas tank on 2 full tanks and I got noticeably better results, considering I'm not throwing a DTC/CEL for a misfire anymore (it's still there, just doesn't happen enough to throw a code), but I want to get at the valves too. The only difference I saw in his video is that he held the car at 1500 RPM throughout the process. Other than that he sprayed instead of poured, and it was in the intake hose attached to the TB......and it was on a Civic Si. |
Chemtool has a combustion chamber cleaner I have wanted to try it but have not. It comes with a straw and a restrictor on the end that is in the can. |

Yeah through the brake booster. Except with the chemtool you have that restrictor so the car won't die on you if you accidentally add to much fluid like sea foam. I think all you have to do is add a little throttle if that. |

Hmm I'll read up on this, I'm tempted to try it out. I just want to get rid of the stupid Cyl 3 misfire. My compression seems good so far after testing it last month. Just need to try deeper cleaning before I order the seals/injector. |

Ah in that case I might just ghetto a nozzle onto a can of seafoam spray. Might just play it safe and stick with it because I want to pour some in my oil on the next change. |
How many miles are on your motor? Also have you ever cleaned the intake valves? |

It wont really clean anything. There are multiple threads about how hard the crud in our intake manifolds is caked on and even media blasters have issues cutting through it |

Yes someone tried b12 and let it sit for hours and still couldn't clean them and that shit is strong |
With that many miles on the car I would recommend just pulling the IM and cleaning the valves and skip the seafoam, do you have a occ? |

I let me intake valves soak in Seafoam for a full day as a preliminary step before proceeding with more extreme measures. Didn't do much of anything. If you want to clean your intake valves you're gonna have to blast or scrub. |

got meth? it's supposed to have a steaming effect on the valves etc clean TB, clean MAF that's what I did. it worked. it is running stronger now than before Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Meth doesn't really do that much since you're not always spraying it. Even when you blast it with walnut media, it takes a 30s to 1 min of blasting to clean that stuff off. Here's a pic of one of my valves at ~90k kms. I have an OCC, EGR delete, and have had my meth kit installed for ~60k kms. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8865/...ae793cbeac.jpg |
Need to soak the valves in b12 for an hour or more. use a pick and walnut blast the shit out of them. |

Nah I don't have meth, was really going to go the E30 route instead after I install HPFP tokorrow. I'll probably end up blasting the valves or just leaving them alone and doing the throttle body. |
Seafoaming your engine is a good way to test its hydrolock resistance in combination with your pouring technique. |
LV426... If you can find some.. Basically its acid but it will dissolve just about anything :) http://thedropship.tripod.com/sadasd.../alienspit.jpg http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/...for_blood1.jpg |
