sick mazdaspeed3 Hey whats going everybody i have a mechanical issue that im not sure what it is, please help. Ive noticed my car seems to run a little rough at idle when it drops to almost 750rpm( not sure if it suppose to go that low) but it also seems to run worse when the a/c is turned on. I think it might be the idler pully or belt tensioner or somethen i dont know. Point is i just got this sweet car like 6 months ago and i really wana keep it awhile. If nebody has had a similar problem, any comments on what it is or what to do would be greatly appreciated, thanks everyone |
Vacuum leak? |
mine seems to idle rough with the a/c on; I just figured it was normal-due to a little more load on the engine. mine's been doing that for 2 years, but no related problems... Quote:

sounds like an engine mount is the culprit... it feels rough because of vibrations in the cabin Im assuming. check if your RMM is loose (re torque the bolt...dont just jiggle it) my car felt "rough" at idle and when AC kicked in when my RMM got a small tear in the bushing. |
RMM...if it was bought used it might have an aftermarket one installed. |
Yea it runs fine and sounds fine past 1000 rpm, but when i come to a stop as soon as it hits 800 a vibration noise comes in and it did seem like it was coming from the firewall area so you think it could be a rear motor mount? How many lb should it be torqued too if thats the case? |
Re-read the threads above and answer the questions asked. Did you buy it used? If yes, the stock crap RMM might have been swapped out for something firmer which would transmit more vibration and noise into the cabin. Search the forums and you'll find a picture of a stock RMM, then it's a matter of looking under the car to see if it was swapped. Alternately, get an AP and increase your RPM at idle. |
