Has anyone tried the plastidip smoke tint? It seems like a pretty good solution. No need to sand, there are no fitment issues, and you can change your mind as many times as you want at very little cost.

It doesn't work well and comes out like this really matte finish.

I think even the dipyourcar guy doesn't even like it.

So has anyone gotten vinyl to work on the outside tail lights in one solid piece?
Here's my car with VHT I just did it a few weeks ago. couldnt upload pic on phone so it took me a while to upload. Didn't want it so dark as u can tell.

Plasti dip doesn't look good on lights. Friends tried it b4 doing his wheels and it looked ugly.

I used the plasti dip smoke, takes about 5 coats just to get a light smoked look. It is flat but you can use the glossifer to shine it up. I am a fan of the look, but the great thing about it is you can peel it off if you don't like it.

Nope I didn't use the glossifier on the taillights. I did on my wheels though and I will say it takes more than you think it would to get a good gloss.

Here's with three coats of VHT with two coats of clear, no sanding prior. Light output is reduced by maybe 5% max. I can't really tell the difference with the spoiler brake light so it was well worth it imo.

FYI, you can buy spray paint remover from Home Depot to remove VHT spray completely from the tail lights. Ask me how I know.

I might as well at least try them, they are a hell of a lot easier to remove if I dont like it
