Default And so it begins......

So last week while tormenting a STi....after 50k of punishing my motor that bitch finally decided to commit suicide. For last few days Ive been slowiy pulling piece by piece after work to get ready for my new motor. With the help of Vin today, and 2 pump jacks, I finally pulled that bitch out.

At first glance I thought I had only put a small hole thru the front of the block right behind the a/c compressor, but turns out theres a bigger hole in the back lol. From what I can see by peeking thru the new window, it looks like the rod snapped at the bottom on cylinder 2. Looking from the top thru the spark plug hole, the piston has also broken.

Waiting now on a short block to be delivered to @atvfreek; sometime this week, I know the rods have already arrived. In the next few nights, I'll start to pull everything apart and see whats salvageable, I have a new head on standby so not too concerned if the piston smashed the valves or not.

Special thanks to @rfinkle2; for driving 2.5hrs up to me saturday night to lend a hand in dismantling shit, and to Vin for spending a few hours today with me.

Im pumped to get this FreekBuilt motor from Justin in my bitch. So hurry the fuck up Justin lol.

lol thanks for the vote of confidence but I am in no way in any running for that with this setup. With the power Im looking to make, which will be the 480-500 range, its really not possible.

My vote is for @LumberJack; lol. Hes got the right setup in the works and he has the seat time to be able to do it.

Lmao. Mathematically its not possible with the power im looking to make. Unless theres a way for me to gut this bitch 500 -700 pounds, it cant happen. And my days of driving around in a fully gutted car are over. Only goal i ever had for this car was to hit 11s.

Not doing any head work while the motor is out? Just ask @atvfreek; he's moving similar air with 2 or 3 psi less boost. I know it's more money but at this point just do it right.

We work together on every map... but in the end he is the driver and is just plain good and has a lot of experience.

A driver can only do so much. Imo, the 1-2 shift is the key to coming out of the hole hard.

The head work was definitely worth it for me because I wanted to get the most of this little turbo and make the car a fun little street warrior that will see an occasional track day. You can still make great power on a stock head, just look at what Teddy and Rob, aka papasmurf have already done on stock heads. With a big enough turbo you can push air through anything . lol

Talking with Rob, i believe that he and I and justin also, represent the common speed owners.

You can make power, on a small budget. Not taking anything away from anyone who went balls out built, but i believe that we have proven that with a proper setup, and a great tuner, you can hang with the big dogs.

If i had the money and the motivation to go balls out believe me i would, but at the end of the day, i just want a speed that torments on the streets, and scoots down the strip.

This will be a nice build because it keeps things simple. Exotic builds are eye candy and drool worthy but for a daily street car keeping a solid midrange with a simple build and sensible turbo means lots of smiles for many miles. In the end it's good to know your goals before jumping in.
