So we got the first 2014 hatches at work today and I am very glad I picked up a 13. Granted this isn't comparing a speed to a speed but still.

Mazda managed to make the rear ugly...



The front however is way sexy, wish we could have a mix of both for the next Speed.

Needs a larger rear spoiler for how much the hatch pushes out.

I don't like the trend of making the windows smaller and smaller to make the cars look sporty. It looks like it sit at the same ride height but it still looks like a corssover like they stated above. But i do like the tail lights being on the darker side though

now you know how it felt in 2010 if you recently got an 09

I actually like the new GenPee Mazda3 better than the Pu. Good job making sure you only take ass-end pics of the two, so you don't have to show just how ugly the Pu smile is compared to the new front end.

While the grille looks better, the snout on the new 3 is very elongated and looks wonky. It's going to take quite a bit of rice to squeeze a hot hatch look out of the 14.

I think what throws it off the most is how high they put the license plate bracket, that really makes it look SUV-ish. The front end however is prety badass!

I definitely still prefer my Pu. I can envision the scoop and large spoiler on the 14, and I think it's going to look pretty nice, but I just can't get over the shape of that ovoid ass.

I didn't bother with another picture of the interior and the what-the-hell-were-they-thinking radio. It looks just as ridiculous in person.

You guys are comparing the base model here.

Also smaller windows are there to meet safety standards. With cameras soon cars won't have windows at all. Why need to see outside when you have the internet?

The rear reminds me of the Lancer Sport Back, or what ever that fugly thing was.

The back glass is probably the same size, it's just 15* more horizontal.

We're going to have to dub this the GenCyrus for its horrendous ass.

The rear can be improved with a more aggressive spoiler.

As a 13' Genpu owner, I freaked when I heard there was a new one coming out.. im not to worried about which one is going to look better at this point.. Once my car goes to the dentist, ill take her anyday.

Those who have said the spoiler will help are right on the money. It will change the complete look of the back of the car. Plus, the black hides the plastic lower bumper; on non-black cars, it will help break that mess up. See?

I agree with every one on that ass end looking jacked up. Putting the plate on the hatch prob wasn't the best idea! The front does look nice tho in person. Seen it on the new mazda 6 a couple weeks ago. Looked at the new 2014 3's online and ran out to go buy my 2013 speed 3 but still would like to see what the 2014 speed3 will look like. I like the shit eating grin mine's got. Have 500 miles on it now and couldn't be happier and the mods are on there way :) thanks to all the guys on here for posting everything I need to know about these cars. Good luck with that big ass Mazda lol

When pictured alone, I'd def think I was just looking at a CX-5. The front end is imo the best looking grill thus far. Having said that, the OEM mount location for the front license plate is in a very hindering spot once again. Only now, there's nowhere off to the side to mount it without having it hang over a foglight. Obviously people in states that don't require a front one will be lucky enough not to have to deal with that.

But I honestly think they took a rear end design that could have been very decent, handed it to a glass blower, and blew it up to resemble a morbidly obese woman's ass. All that's missing on it is some cottage cheese. From what Maz execs told me, there wont be a speed version till the 2015 model year at the earliest. (We'll see if that holds up as it would be fucking weird to skip a year. Let's just hope they have the wherewithal to be bold enough to make design differences that set it apart from this new "my mom's ass" version of the 3. (Love you Mom!)
