I seriously can't believe how this thread has taken off. Fuck, even Hal chimed in! (honored). Anyway, we've been together for 6 1/2 yrs. now and have managed to never once have an argument (probably due to the fact we keep our funds separate), and I can't see anything changing just because of a piece of paper.
On a side note, my birthday is this Monday July the 30th, so if anybody (vendors or members) wants to offer any sweet discounts on Gen2 parts that would fuckin rule!
Just sayin...

Let an old geezer in on this conversation, 47 been a long, long, time. Even if you love your car never love it more than her or at least don't let her know you love the car that much. Good news is after many, many years she'll let you do whatever you want just get you out of the house. Just gotta bide your time but for the next 20 or so years your fucked. GL

Everything will change after the I do's, no matter what she tells you, I promise, not always for the bad but changes are coming. "We're married now." get used to that phrase. It's not all doom and gloom just a different mind set.

I have been married for 12 years and my wife understood before hand that money gets spent on cars for no other reason than to make it louder, faster, and handle better.

Just make sure she understands that you are going to spend money on cars for reasons beyond reason.

By the way ya'll. I've been all over the site and many tire and wheel websites, looking for the perfect, all black, 18x8 wheels... with a good offset for a GenPu of course. I can see little glimpses on some of your avatars but would love to see some nice size pics of what you guys are rolling underneath yours. Definitely looking for 100% black ones in the size mentioned above. Also preferably ones that are lighter or the same weight as stack. Gloss, matte, or somewhere in between is irrelevant as of yet.
Before you all jump down my throat...YES I know there are threads for this, but this is my damn thread and I'll ask for peoples suggestions on it if I want to!!!
-Sorry I'm getting old and getting married and its stressful.
-P.S. Yes I've considered powder-coating my stockers

Dipyourcar.com plasti-dip gold metalizer, 45 bucks for 3 cans done in about 4 hours on the stockers. Oh shit almost forgot the best part, if you don't like it it peels right off no harm, no foul.

That's it, get married and buy car parts, then she will thank you when she takes the car and the car parts in the divorce along with more money to get....you guessed it, more car parts. Your such a great guy.

Why do you think I built the motor, full custom turbo kit, twin scroll 3582, triple gauge cluster, and am looking at KW V2's all in the last 6 months? Gettin hitched Oct. 6th!

We have a "our" account that we pay our combined bills with. I make 68% of our total household income so I pay 68% of our combined bills. Then, we each add another set percentage into the account for savings, food, etc. Anything left over is mine to do what I want.

Needless to say, I have a lot more spending money than she does but apparently she thinks it's fair...

In the same boat as ya, and well I would recommend spending funds on the wedding. I know my fiance would have shit storm if did not have money for that.
All tho I continue to find myself looking at buying things for the car....
Why did I put myself in this situation lol

Congrats on the upcoming marriage! Married 2006-present here and wouldn't change a thing. I am so glad to not be in the dating scene anymore.

As far as what to do with the money, do the honeymoon and make your bride happy. Weddings are usually a big deal to women and a ton of work. You will really look forward to leaving the reception for a nice relaxing vacation together.

My $.02 on money... Financial problems will put all kinds of unnecessary stress on a marriage so do your best to not get into that situation. If you can pay the bills, save some money, and still afford to mod the car AND let her spend a similar amount on things she wants, go for it. If not, you're looking for trouble. Don't rack up debt on things you don't need. Credit cards are the devil.
