so i have been looking for about a day on my clutch problem and this is the closest i can get. i to experience the excat same thing you have been describing bislag. so i understand all that now. but i still have one more problem, when i reverse and come to a complete stop, put the car in nuetral and try to go into first, the shift stick goes in and when i accelarate i still go backwards. i have to do this a couple of times then it finally goes into first. almost hit a few people at stoplights because car goes backwards instead of forward lol. any ideas if this is just a bad clutch or something else?

Well, as I understand, what I described is normal. If you're unsure bring it to Mazda and have them look. If only for peace of mind if you're unsure. I manned up and got over it despite my newfaggotry at manual.

As for your other problem, are you absolutely sure you're not pushing the shifter down? Because that's what it sounds like. It would be an easy (though unacceptable) mistake to make. If you aren't doing that I have no idea and you should have Mazda check it out. They'll cover it under warranty.

Yeah I have done that a couple of times and absolutely made sure I wasn't pushing down. I have pulled up just to be sure.

Off to Mazda with you then. Being a 2012 there will be no hesitation to get that sorted out for you under warranty.

It's probably a simple or obvious cause, but I don't have an idea so let us know what it is.

Apologies, not sure where I got the 2012 from then. That'll teach me to read posts after finishing up a night shift. Good luck figuring out what the problem is.
