Specific Speed3 dealers?

So I went to my nearby Mazda dealer and asked if they could sell me a new 2012 Speed3. Well, apparently you have to be a Mazdaspeed3 dealer to get them brand new and sell them? I feel like that makes no sense. Any ideas?:crying:

True story.

Not every Mazda dealer is "Speed Certified". There is one near me that isn't. They cannot sell new Speeds...well, they don't get new speeds from Mazda, anyways. But they can sell Certified Used Speeds. See if they can help you out that way.

As bad as Speed dealer techs are, the non-speed techs are worse....so you wouldn't want to buy from them anyways.

u can only get them thru MSF

Maybe. Maybe not. The two dealers in my area are both "Speed" Dealers. They have different techs that work on Speeds. However, an oil change is an oil change. All depends on your issue.

Alright. I live in Montana so there are no "Speed" dealers here. The closest ones are in Denver and Coeur d'Alene. I think I'm going to Denver to buy one soon.

Glad I live in a very well populated area.

Fly out to FL and buy my 2012 and drive it home!!!

Sucks none of your local Stealers sells them. Guess maybe they dont wanna pay the extra cash im sure is required to be a Speed Dealer.

maisonvi 03-28-2012 06:05 PM

Yeah when I went and looked at a local dealer they said that they weren't a "mazdaspeed" dealer because whatever training they need cost around $30,000. The local dealer said that because there was no demand they weren't willing to shell out the cash.

Does anyone know what the specifics on a non Speed3 dealer working on a Speed3 under warranty are?

The closest dealer to me isn't a Speed3 dealer, and I wanted to have the customization done to my car. Well they told me that because they aren't a Speed3 dealer, they would have to charge me but if I went to another dealer that was authorized they could probably do it for free?

But also I'm having an issue with my drivers seat making noise ( which I think is a common warranty issue ) and I was wondering if they would give me the same BS about that too?

If the dealer is NOT a mazdaspeed certified dealership they cannot work on mazdaspeed cars even if the mechanic is mazdaspeed certified. another way for mazda corp to void your warrenty.....

PushingRedline 03-29-2012 10:09 AM

This is interesting because when I bought my car a month ago the salesmen said that it use to be that you had to be "Speed" certified to sell them. He said they didn't do that anymore though. hmmm...

I was told by my dealership here locally, that they are not speed certified but can work on the engine because it is in the cx7 (or is it the cx-9?). In addition they said their tech was speed certified. That said, I had my turbo seals go out at 7K and they took over a month to replace the turbo and it took 4 trips to get a broken seat bracket fixed more recently. To be honest, I don't trust them with my car.

They have some new 2012 speeds on the lot, but I was told that they traded with other dealerships to get them.

Like the previous posters said, speed techs are bad, non-speed techs are worse.

CX-7 also has the L3-VDT engine.

If you go to Denver to buy a speed see if you can get Bob Penkhus out of Colorado Springs to come up there. We've bought two from them. No bs and I can give you a really cool salesman who doesn't bullshit.
