Top end though yeah the STI's gonna shine a bit with the extra gear and different ratios. Big bonus to the STI's the diff in that is bulletproof and the drivetrain will handle the mods better, so once we start talking modded WRX vs. STI then that's a completely different story. Look up the times, WRX is minutely quicker in the acceleration department.
yeah just my buddy is getting a wrx and says from a roll hell take me easy? true or false?

From a roll I think we are pretty close, specially if you've got the mods/tune dialed in and he's dealer stock. Now from a dig that awd really makes a difference.

I like to top out 5th gear when the road opens up. That works out to be 130mph ish. No need, for me, to see what 6th gear will do. ,would take too long and imagine standing in front of a district court judge trying to explain that one. Just isn't worth it.

Old thread alert.

The reason why your car struggled is because the stock factory tune closes the throttle ALOT starting at 6k rpms and there's also about -5% boost comp in 5th and 6th gears. Open ATR and look at stage 0 and you'll see right away why the stock tune suck so hard big donkey dick.

Wtf? No bullshit, I bought my speed brand spanking new down in Houston with 18 miles on the odometer, and I literally beat the snot out of my car outta the lot. Houston has wide open roads, especially in the middle of the night, and my shit never saw anything past 140. Houston's a pretty flat city too. Stock, my car struggled past 120, and when I say struggled I mean its like I had a parachute open back there.

Only since modding, have I seen that 150 mph mark, but roads out in NJ suck.

Yeah once you get it tuned and get all the main stuff right (boost, fuel, ign timings, throttle tables) you'll throw it into 6th around 140mph and it will still pull its ass off. If you struggled getting to 130-140mph before then yeah its the stock tune sucking and blowing.

I've read in a couple of reliable sources that without the ECU limiter they will do 155-160 STOCK. Bolted, who knows. Probably not much more. You'll be at 6,500rpms ish in 6th gear and the K04 is fail at that point. I've personally seen an indicated 140mph several times in mine. I wind out 5th to 6k and then shift to 6th gear and gun it for a few more seconds to see how hard its still pulling. That puts me around 140mph before rear bumpers start appearing FAST Funk

Hell it felt more stable at 135 then it does at 65! Really sucked to the ground and rode awesome! (Pretty smooth road of course)

Yeah I've hit just past 160 then start running out of road or coming up to traffic. Bah.

I hit 14X yesterday running a S2000. The car felt stable until there was a slight right on the highway, and when applying the brakes.

Im sure its pretty solid compared to a Honda or other POS, but compared to my old DD I thought I was going to fly off the road. Too bad the MS3 isnt awd.

Awd won't help you when you hit the brakes at that speed in a turn. Hit the brakes before or just let of the gas, otherwise a significant amount of traction is being sent to the front tires and you'll end up squirming or overturning.

The same happened when I was doing the same top speed run against a STi...he did it and almost shot into me. Luckily I felt stable enough to lightly lay off the throttle and keep going through the light turn at speed.

easily got up past 110, and then pulled to 13X with only a SRI/TIP and a roof rack

There is road out here that is newly paved, straight, and deserted. My buddy took me out there so we could video his Trans-Am..and I ran my car down the road a few times. Easily got up into the 130's before I ran out of road...don't know how anyone couldn't easily pull into the 140's

Once you hit 6k rpm in 6th it struggles to go past that. From that point it depends on your stretch of road, your balls, or your tune/build.

My car pulls quite hard in 5th gear.

My speed limiter is currently set to 255, but I've only taken it to 150ish.

Here's a vid of it pulling hard up top.

Lets all keep in mind that wheel and tire sizes that are different from stock will throw off the speedo (not much but worth adding); and the speedo on the dash is not to the MPH accurate (GPS is the way to track land speed).

Tune: My own (based on the v210 and v231 Cobb OTS maps but ramped way up)

Street creds:
- Fastest known K04/93 MS3/driver with only an AP, CDFP upgrade, intake, and tune | 13.37@106.83mph on stock Dunlops (2.04 sec 60' time, full curb weight, 75*F ambient temp)
- Has gone an indicated 146mph on three occasions now.

Yes I will help you tune your K04/pump gas car; I have much less experience than the major players but I also charge you $0 and can turn you around quickly. 4 satisfied customers and counting...

Thanks, but it's mighty loud.

I must have had the waterproof cover on my GoPro that night.

It's def not a K04.

I can't believe no one referenced F&F yet... Sounds like you need NOS, make that two.

The new Porsche 911 has a 7-speed manual. Rumor is the C7 Corvette will as well. The extra gears are not for higher speeds, but so cars can get past CAFE standards without cutting back on anything power/speed wise.
