Spoilers

Hey what are your opinions on spoilers for the mazdaspeed3s? I've been told there isn't much purpose due to the fact its front wheel drive. I have also been getting kinda tired of how dull the stock spoiler is, but haven't really seen a good alternative(Most are super ricey).

danmillerok 11-16-2014 11:25 PM

The spoiler serves a purpose and you are going to get shit for this.

Haha If people wanna give me shit for something I've been told, then they can, but at least I am here seeking knowledge on the topic. Hopefully someone will link me a place I can find nice spoilers because googles shopping tab doesn't show me anything besides stock.

GARRETHEXTREME 11-16-2014 11:37 PM

This forum isn't really into rice, but the mazda247 might, check there instead 😁

The ms3 has a spoiler from the factory. It is perfectly fine, if you want a lip extension for your OEM spoiler, they sell those. They don't look awful, and they are cheap. What the fuck else do you want? Spoilers are purely aesthetic on most vehicles, especially a FWD station wagon. This may be the dumbest thread I've ever seen.

Fox 11-17-2014 12:33 AM

lol inked it was for opinions If I wanted Jackasses posting I would have put in the title "Inked Post here Plz"

I don't foresee you being here long. Also, ouch, my feelings are so hurt that a faggot brownie called me a jackass. I may not recover from this!

I think you'd be happier at mazdas247, they love threads like this.

Hargarbl 11-17-2014 01:10 AM

O this should be good, hopefully fag op will stick around and be a dumbshit long enough for this to go nsfw

Look man, you bought the wrong car... Pretty much all the aesthetic aftermarket parts sold for Speed3s (especially second gens) are damn ugly in my opinion. If you read the OP, you'll see that you asked for "[our] opinions;" you actually got what you asked for.

I was going to post that picture! lol It's all I could think of when reading this post.

That make 1

Apparently, you're not allowed personal opinion, you must assimilate.

I plan to get 1 too

InkedInspector 11-17-2014 07:21 AM

Racer X, I don't care about him wanting a spoiler and I don't think anyone else does either. But asking about the functionality of a spoiler on a FWD wagon, and saying he wants one that isn't rice is where he went astray. I have some rice on my car, you want a spoiler go for it. But anyone that's been on msf for more than a week knows that rice conversation gets lumped in with BPV, and to a lesser extent CBEs, that is shit better left for M247.

That said, willing to bet if this was posted under genpu appearance and said, I know it's rice, but I want a different spoiler. I searched and only found the extensions/lips and that's just not what I'm looking for.

This would have gone a lot differently then it has.

rfinkle2 11-17-2014 07:29 AM

MZR speed seems to think it creates some downforce or drag on the ms3 because he removed his when making his record setting pass on the k04.

Evo guys who remove their rear wing report that they get 2-3 MPG better gas mileage.

Take that for what it is worth, but there are extensions and wings available on Japanparts.com.

Easter Bunny 11-17-2014 07:58 AM

It definately creates a ton of drag. When my car was new and relatively quiet I was amazed at the wind noise. Some one traded a speed wing for an mz3 wing and also noticed reduced noise.

Koke382 11-17-2014 09:14 AM

I have a carbon fiber extension bcuz rice. Reading this makes me want to take it off now, LOL

InkedInspector 11-17-2014 09:38 AM

I kind of like the extensions, I don't think they look bad at all.

I've got a 6" extension for op, "spoiler" alert, it's my penis.

Anyone who thinks a rear spoiler has no functional purpose on a FWD hatch needs to go to a few TimeAttack events... :neener:

http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...karey066-l.jpg

Now, does that mean we should all go out and put massive spoilers on our street-driven MS3s??

No.

Easter Bunny 11-17-2014 11:31 AM

I love that they took a generic trunk mounted one and attached it to the roof.

Beautiful in its simplicity.

Darth_Nuruodo 11-17-2014 11:37 AM

Yes, a time attack where you're in a road course taking corners at a speed high enough to make it functional. But if you think it's doing anything on the road other than causing drag you're fooling yourself

And those spoiler lips are the dumbest thing ever.

jack_hammer 11-17-2014 11:38 AM

I put one on my hood for that downforce

Easter Bunny 11-17-2014 11:52 AM

I'm attaching a world of outlaws front and rear spoiler.

Tyhackman15 11-17-2014 12:03 PM

FWD or RWD doesn't matter for a spoiler, the point is to get more grip over the rear tires for high speed cornering and stability.

None of which you will be doing on the street, so don't. Get a little extension as people have mentioned.

Hill climb / time attack cars run wings on the front lol. Looks ridiculous but obviously works.

Sometimes you need two spoilers.

But seriously, oval track dirt racing cars have these setups for a reason. Wouldn't work as daily obviously.

From memory driver311 did the same thing and picked up mph and ET...

They have two to maximize killing efficiency when someone is dumb enough to walk onto the track.

Too soon?

Body kits, spoilers, etc were cool in 2001.
Notice how most people just put front and rear lip kits on cars? Time to grow up or sell your ms3 and buy a Cavalier.
