Springs... or Intake...

Gotta be careful of the mods now that I'm on a tighter budget...

So what do you think is a more worth while mod? H&R Springs, or SURE intake?

dizzydtrain 06-14-2011 12:42 PM

Intake for sure. I have H&R springs and I definitely like them a lot but an intake is way more fun and gives you some gains.

Unless you are doing a full out suspension upgrade with shocks and springs I would pick engine mods anyday. The stock suspension is plenty for most unless you track the car.

what he said^^

She's just DD queen... Intake it is. I plan on keeping stock struts/shocks etc. Just want to get rid of some wheel gap lol

J_Logik 06-21-2011 10:34 AM

Intake 100%

shaftyella 06-21-2011 11:03 AM

Intake is the better option of the two but if I were you I'd save for AP!

How long do you think those stock struts are going to last? if your "mod money is tight" then dont buy springs.

....and please dont make your next mod a BOV

I'd go with the AP to be safe but that's just me. I know a racepipe is still within the "safe" guidelines regarding Fuel Pressure...But from the reading I've been doing around here, our stock fuel pumps are hit-and-miss. Some have trouble with just an intake and some run DP's and CBE's. The only way to be sure you're not running low is if you monitor your FP.

NinjaT1985 06-21-2011 12:37 PM

I was trying to take bolt ons as far as I could without getting a tune... I know that you can return it to stock @ anytime but I really didn't want to get that far into it. I figure this...

CBE (have)
Intake (on the way)
CS racepipe
CS TMIC

Thats all the bolt ons I was going for. (besides suspension) From what I've read thats about the limit with stock FP & internals.

Im pretty sure, SURE is still backordered on the Aeros intake, any update on this?

Like I said, there are no guidelines to what your stock FP can take. You may be lucky and have it take all those mods, but you may get fuel cuts with so many bolt-ons. I highly recommend you to skip the TMIC and get an AP because:

a) you want to monitor your FP, I will say it again.
b) TMIC barely makes any difference in our cars since the stock TMIC in the Gen 2's have a large core. If you want a true Intercooler, go FMIC. I know it's more expensive but you will not get heat rise issues.

I haven't even tried calling to be honest. While waiting does get frustrating @ times, I believe that a good quality product is worth the wait, thats also why I cancelled my order on some cheap springs and am saving for H&R's

Yeah, you're right. I'll prolly forego the TMIC and go with an AP. That seams to be the most popular thing for these cars besides an intake lol. I'll just have to wait till I can save some $$$ @ $550 normally :smashfreakB:

No u should get a hpfp internal after ur intake then ap and rp
