| Not Ranked : 0 score On the stage 1 ots map I was overboosting to 20 psi causing my fp to drop dangerously low.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score As promised: 2012 Mazdaspeed3 Dyno Stock vs Cobb Stage1 bolt-ons 273hp, 273lb/ft torque - YouTube Car gained 23hp and 43lb/ft with the Stage 1 OTS map, SF SRI intake, and TIH/TIP. @410ms3: When money comes in for the next round of mods I will probably seek out someone who specializes in the L3-VDT. For what I needed done (stage 1 mods and dyno runs) Agile did a fine job. @xb2ms3: I plan to monitor the fuel pressure and boost moving forward. If I suspect anything I will move forward with the fuel system upgrades. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score UPDATE: Well dammit you guys were right! Car was breaking up around 4.5k - 5k in 2nd gear. Only in 2nd gear and only when I can get traction. Almost like it was pulling timing like when traction control kicks on. Tried monitoring boost while driving.... a couple spikes to 18psi but they weren't accompanied by anything unusual. Monitored knock retard... was able to recreate the 2nd gear "surging" which is hard to do without wheelspin now. No knock retard. Hmmm. OK this trying to monitor and drive is fucking impossible. Figured out how the AccessPort logging function works. Finally was able to capture a log with the "default" parameters while the surging was occuring. See below. Bottom line... yes I am seeing (and feeling) the dreaded GenPu low fuel pressure problem grrrrr. Its weird that it only happens in 2nd gear and not all the time. SO NOW WHAT? Who wants to put a better fuel pump on this for me? Who is up to the challenge? Also, does this mean I will be able to run Stage2 maps after I upgrade the pump? Save the "I told you so bullshit" ok? Just help me out here. Thank gawd for the internets and all you peoples. Big props to... YOU Look at the sixth column in. How can the fuel pressure drop that low but still maintain a a/f ratio of 9.x ?? In physical terms, does that mean there is ENOUGH fuel in the combustion chamber but it isn't DISPERSED correctly in terms of a direct injection application and this is causing unusual flame fronts and/or combustion patterns inside the cylinder(s)? Is that the idea here? Time Actual AFR (AFR) Boost (PSI) Boost Air Temp. (? F) Calculated Load (Load) HPFP Act. Press. (PSI) Intake Temp. (? F) Intake Valve Adv. (?) Knock Retard (?) (Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score @deadlandxtreme: I would love to see your blown engine but it is in the VIP section. I have not paid yet. Only VIPs can see blown Mazdas ![]() @wdawson4: I might have to take you up on your offer as no one else has responded. I am kind of surprised that you are only one to offer help to a newb. When I had my 2004 Passat the forum folks at Passatworld were much more ready to help each other. I guess its a little different around here. If anyone else still wants to help guide me through the fuel pump internals process let me know; I do have money and your efforts would not go unrewarded. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score OK I just donated $100. It still doesn't say VIP under my name. Next step = avatar acquisition. I am now able to see the blown motor thread. But it seems no one could absolutely figure out the cause of the bent rod? Maybe prior owner had a 300hp shot of NOS on there? Regardless, next step is fuel pump upgrade. The RFP is still open if anyone is interested. I'm going to pull the trigger early next week and move forward. Thanks people. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I see the column of interest in your post. The gen2 cars dump excess fuel when the pump fails, and it just snowballs from that point. For reference, your pump pressure should always remain > 1600 psi to avoid any issue with the ecu logic, and I see about 1/2 that pressure in your log (sometimes even less). Thanks for donating and it looks as if you are on your way to getting plenty of help from the guys. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Please excuse my noob question. But is the low fuel pressure from the stage 1 map you're running? Or the SRI and TIH/TIP? I thought that 9 times out of 10 you wouldn't run into low pressure problems with those mods? |

Some of the posts lead you to believe that most people are ok and that running into low fuel pressure is the exception to the rule. I would challenge this and say that having the fueling issue is more the rule than the exception. The veterans will probably have a better explanation.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hey dude. I live in white marsh and am pretty involved with the car scene in the area. Agile is great at some points but not in the other. They don't know much about the platform and they get you to spend way too much money. You'll walk in expecting to get A, but they tell you that you need x, y, and z before you can get to a. I didn't read all the post, but the money you give them really can be better spent. Edit: just saw post where he said he's tuned hundreds of speeds. Not trying to be a dick, but I honestly feel like that number is maybeeeee ten or fifteen. There arent that many in the area and most of them are stock or on here. I've been to a couple of their open houses and have only seen two speeds total. If I was tuned by them, I'd be at their open houses. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

| Not Ranked : 0 score Edit again: now that I had a nice poop that gave me time to read the whole thread. I've done plenty of fuel pump installs if you'd like me to do it or help you out with this. Not to be a dick, but please listen to what people on here have to say. It took me proving to @wdawson4 three times before he believed I knew what I was talking about jk But seriously, hit me up if you need help dude. Me and Dawson are soon gonna be able to take the whole car apart and back together in an hour after working on these fucks this much. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

| Not Ranked : 0 score So, if I installed an SRI and TIP do I need to upgrade the FP. Sorry to hack into your post but I have no clue how to start my own thread. Lol I'm also new with this type of car and have no clue where to start with mods. Looks like a fuel pump should be the first one. Lol Also what do I need to make 300whp? The guys at Cobb in Plano TX told menor would take a turbo upgrade. Let me know. Thanks! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Cool, thanks for the info! I think I will do the FP first. E-85 is hard to come by in the middle of no where TX. But thanks for the heads up. Fort I'll keep checking on this thread so we will be learning together for sure. Ive been a licensed aircraft mechanic for the past 12 years so doing the work on my own shouldn't be a problem but I too have a family and work some long ass hours so I'll probably pay for some of it. Any tuners in here from the Dallas area willing o offer advise and support it will be greatly appreciated. |

And I've got a couple people, to remain nameless for now, who are willing to help me through the process. It's like as soon as I donated everyone stopped being a dick to me :-P
