Could be what ckmazdaspeed was saying. I would suggest replacing it and see if that fixes the problem. JBR makes great mounts as well as all the other stuff I mentioned. Street Unit does too. I have the Street Unit stuff and I love it. You'll notice increased vibrations but once the bushing breaks in, it'll be fine. Honestly, I didn't notice crazy vibrations. There were some, mostly with AC on, but nothing annoying. Totally worth it. Cheap and easy to install. And you could easily stock it out if you brought it into Mazda for service and were worried.

Personally, I never had any issues like that, but I knew i wanted to replace it either way.

So it should be RMM #1 then, fuck the stock one... I hope thers a recall on it before I get around to replacing it, design flaw if you ask me
Is there anything else that should get done while doing the RMM?
Shit that would be easy to access while doing the job I mean.

For other mods, from reading around, looks like fuel pump is #2, intake #3, and then access port tuning kajigger #4.
Eventually downpipe and intercooler upgrade, but I'm a while away from those 2 myself.

Actually, my #1 will be a radar detector, its probably something I should already have gotten years ago.

I'll have to open windows and turn radio down and give it a good listen, but its been fukn cold lately...

If it is the RMM, why is this being ignored by mazda, and people solve the problem by getting 3rd party parts.
that's not the turbo in the firewall issue. I only hit my turbo once (I had a new rmm installed within a week of getting the car), but it was a very loud, single thud after a very hard 1-2 shift. accelerating while in gear and at higher rpm isn't the firewall hitting.

Whether its a design flaw or not, its just better to spend the $90 and get the JBR dogbone, the stock shit is meant to make the car livible for grand mom to ride in with out her dentures falling out. Every car has a design flaw according to the driver, we all look at different things we like and dislike.
Scoobs likes this.

Yeah it isn't a design flaw. They chose not to do a stiffer one to cut back on vibrations into the cabin. There is a thread on the RMM and how it works. There is also a few threads on order of mods.

I'd start with RMM, counterweight, short shift plate and shifter bushings. All cheap and will make the car feel stronger. Then you can do the intake, turbo inlet hose (pipe) and recirculating tube. Then, if you haven't already, get the Cobb AccessPORT. That way you can data log so you know exactly how your car is running. That way you won't blow up your shit by accident. Again though, do some searching as there are a ton of threads on the safest ways to mod.

TIP isn't necessary. I have one because the corksport setup was the best bang for the buck I could find, and I just decided to do it while I was tearing into things anyway. If you only plan on doing an intake and tune then don't worry about the tip. If you're planning on going further than that (dp, upgraded ic, what have you) then go ahead and do a TIP.

not necessary but i would do it. after seeing the OEM piece, you can see why people like to replace it! i'd recommend just getting a SRI and TIP at the same time and installing them together.

Posting here again because I dont want to start a new thread and its still kinda related...

JBR vs. Sure ?
Same stuff from both places:
- shift plate
- shift counterwight
- shift bushings
- billet style RMM

JBR price = $215
Sure price = $268

Is this a case of preference, or get what you pay for?
The only thing I can see sure has going for it is prettier looking parts, that I wont get to actually look at after they are in place.

I would personally prefer to support Jamie since he "seems more real", just wanted to see if anyone has feedback on either product

You'll be fine either way. I have SURE and love it. But JBR is very nice too. Go with JBR and save some $$$.

I'll vouch for jbr stuff again and again. I have all of his parts in my sig. Will be adding the egr block off very soon. He ships fast, his parts are quality, and he supports this forum and makes parts that people need. And he does it cheaper than anyone else around. Support jbr.

If your referring to "pretty" its not much going to matter the rmm will not be seen. It is a solid addition to the car and I will be completing the mounts trifecta asap.
