STI Take Down?
 

Ok, so im cruising on the HW and this STI comes zipping around me like speed racer. He was fully modded i think. lowered, nice red bremo brakes, huge pipe sticking out the back, roll cage,. I was impressed. it was a nice ride..

I was like what the hell,......lets see. so i got up to him again and had my window down and was like ,,,,slow down..... with my hand.
we both slowed to about 60mph and then punched it. i stayed with him for a few seconds and then started pullying!!!!!! he shifted and fell back about 10 feeet and then I shifted and I was gone. totally let him.

Now Im pretty sure an STI can take me off the line due to our wheel spin. But it was so awsome taking down a STI.

Does this sound right????

I doubt he's fully bolted if he lost to you with the mods you have right now. Or either he needs a drivers mod OR he's just fucking with you.

although...they really arent that fast. they may be AWD and quick off the line, but us MS owners take down STI's like a chinese kid takes down hot dogs at a hot dog eating contest.

Took down a new wrx yesterday... Too bad 60 degrees means no grip till third gear

sounds normal. i havent lost to a full "stage 2 pro tuned" sti with intake, ap, fuel pump, test pipe although it was close. and once i got fmic and dp, it made me pull on em throughout the power band instead of just up top.

damn and he had a cage, shit is srs

what freeway? what color was the sti and what year? did it have tint?

yeah i think this is bull shit i raced a sti on the freeway and i didnt have a chance i have a sri cat-less test pipe and a cat back with 1/8 tank of gas with nothing in the car but me, so their was no weight in it, he was stalk still had the dealer plates on, i kept up in 4th but he walked away in 5th and 6th

I would say true.

They are quicker to 60 with it being AWD but their drivetrain loss is high obviously.

I raced a brand new with paper plates 2012 STI with my intake/cobb ots stage 1 tune and pulled on it good from 50-100.

They SUCK on the highway.

I think the nay sayers need to browse the Sti forums. They only make around 300whp fully bolted.

Are you sure it was an STi and not a WRX with an STi wing? Your comment about red brakes make me think you were running against an 06-07 WRX. They came with with red 4 pot front/red 2 pot rear brakes from the factory.

Maybe, it had a big wing on the back and red Brembro brake calipers. And a Huge muffler sticking out the back.

I just thought it was cool that i took a car that was obviously highly tuned.

yes, you are right, but when a car has a huge can sticking out the back, lowered and role cage , you kinda assume he has engine mods. But i was just assuming.

Do you guys even know what your own car is capable of? We had a buddy switch from an STI to an ms3, all of his STI buddies were giving him shit saying he downgraded, this that and the other so we set up a race. Jeffs new bone stock MS3 against a bone stock STI, and guess what, Jeff beat him. Do the math, a car that is heavier, making the same WHP but less WTQ it makes sense the MS3 wins. Dude comes back next week with intake and catback and cobb ots map and wants to race the MS3 again and is only able to put half a car on Jeff this time.

We have an STI at our meet, on a Cobb Plano, TX 100% E85 tune, that i YANKED on my stock turbo 50/50 E85 set up. The STIs are nice cars, id take one in a heart beat, but fast they are not without a lot of money put into them.

I know what our car can do. This is more about the op making assumptions about the other car. I have done my fair share of shitting on sti's and the lowly wrx but i dont make assumptions about those guys cars. If i get chances to ask them what they have i do but usually i just keep quiet about it all.

this story is false...why? because it's an sti, vs a car with intake and tune and a racepipe. Let alone this is the OTS stage 1.

When i first had bought my ms3 a friend of mine bought a wrx 2010 with just an intake it wasn't even close. He could literally put 2+ cars on me easy, when he drove it like he should. It wasn't until i got the accessport and a intake that i could barely edge him out. This is aginst a fucking wrx, not a sti. The videos are still on my thread if you want to bother shit talking about how my story is fake. Carry on...

I'd like to believe this story but hard to believe without any facts . Stock for stock I see the speed 3 edging out a win from a roll of course. But he doesn't know what he raced. He thinks it was fully bolted because the guy had a wing and a loud exhaust with a fire extinguisher in the car. We don't know if the car was wrx or sti or if tuned. We either can say that Subaru needs driver mod or needs a tune. :blindfold:

lol everyone doubting as to whether a stock speed 3 can pull an sti is fucking dumb. They're 300HP CRANK, HIGHER drivetrain loss, and heavier. Plus the disi is underrated in terms of power output.

They're slow from a roll. I pulled an sti with 3 people in my car (small females, but still) with an sri motormounts and a tune.

With my downpipe, it's not even close. Slow cars gonna slow.

I read somewhere on here that the 2011+ WRXs are faster than STIs. How? I have no clue. Anyone want to chime in on that?
